How does the bulb look? Is it bright or kind of dim. The bulb warming error is designed to halt use of the machine until the scanner bulb reaches the correct output level. As these are basically a flourescent tube, they will dim over time and at a certain point they will not generate enough light to enable proper scanning. If the bulb is dim, it will require replacement.

In some cases users have been able to clean the mirror in the scanner to get better reflection. This is done by removing the small piece of top glass that the ADF using for scanning. You will have to inch the scanner head back by pulling on the belt. Once you have the scanner back in the ADF scan position you will see that there is a mirror in a slot behind the scanner bulb. Use a flashlight to see how dirty the mirror is. If dirty, use a Q-tip and alcohol to clean the mirror. Reassembly the glass, turn printer back on and you should now have a machine that will come to ready.

  • creative1322 Mar 14, 2011

I have cleaned the mirrors and the lens.
Now I have the error message 79, switch off - switch on.

    What now ?

    Mark Schmit Mar 14, 2011

The 79 error is a communication error. I would turn off the machine, unplug any usb or network cables attached and then restart. Does the scanner initialize when you turn it on?

  • creative1322 Mar 15, 2011

Switching the power of and on do not solve the problem.

The scanner is initialize when I turn it on.

Can I replace the mirrors wrong, I have all the mirrors out of the place and cleaned them.
Then I put them back, but I had not sign't the mirrors. I now wat the mirror site is.

Removing the mirrors was not required to clean them and it is possible you have disturbed the alignment of the optical system. The service manual states that a 79 error may be cured by performing a firmware upgrade so that is what I would try next.

  • creative1322 Mar 17, 2011

I cannot upgrade the 3330, the site off HP gives a note that the machine must be ready.
And that's imposseble, because off the error.

How can I do it right.

You may not have to have the unit in ready mode. While that is recommended, often these machines will update the firmware without that condition being met.

The "scanner warm up" issue is usually caused by dirty scanner optics. Over time the mirrors in the scanner with collect dust which reduces the image and light levels, this happens even faster in a smoking environment. When the buildup gets to level that blocks to much light you get the error. To correct the error you will need to disassemble the scanner assembly and wipe down the mirrors. Here is a link to a step by step dis-assembly guide that should help you correct the problem.

Scanner bulb warming up keeps cycling, seems like the scanner is not working and can not print or copy. Sounds like the movement across the scanner doesn't happen.

ISSUE:
A Scanner Bulb Error message is received as a result of the HP LaserJet 3300mfp series product scanner's inability to find the home reference point.
SOLUTION:
Perform the following steps to walk the scan assembly from the home base and resolve the issue.

1.
Remove and replace the power cord from the unit.
2.
Wait approximately 35 seconds for the scanning assembly to "walk out" and then quickly remove the plug again.
3.
Repeat steps 1 and 2, three to four times until the head moves approximately 1 inch away from its normal resting place.
4.
Replace the plug and let the product fully finish the boot cycle.

If this does not resolve the issue or the issue returns, upgrading the product firmware may help. The firmware upgrade can be found at the HP Web site Downloads, Drivers, and Notifications page .

Hope I help you a bit.

Scanner bulb warnning

Hello,

The 'scanner warming up' error is caused by dirty scanner optics. What happens is the scanner initializes the lamp and starts reading the scanner pickup waiting for the light to get to a certain brightness level. When the optics get dirty from dust or smoke then the light getting to the scanner pickup is reduced so the unit thinks the scanner bulb has not reached the correct brightness so it says wait. What you will need to do is dis-assemble the top portion and clean the scanner optics. We have a step by step guide to do this procedure posted on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/hp-laserjet-3330-scanner-warming-up-error/ This should get you back going again.

I hope this helps you out, if so please rate our solution.
