I had the same problem ones. You would like to check you display driver.
In 90% cases Windows Driver is not good enough. The best driver for you video card would be the driver you download from the vendor's web site.
You monitor is more likely OK. You can double check that by connecting you monitor to a known working PC.
Hope this helps

What is vga/dvi cables

VGA and DVI is in the way the video signals travel. VGA connectors and cables carry analog signals while DVI can carry both analog and digital. DVI is newer and offers better, sharper display compared to VGA. You can easily tell them apart because VGA connectors (and ports) are blue while DVI connectors are white. Fpd1775w monitor no signal

Are you using the VGA cord or the DVI? If using the VGA switch to DVI, maybe there is a short with the VGA plug inside the monitor. a VGA to DVI adapter on the back of pc should do the trick unless your computer has a DVI connection as well..

My DVI has no signal but my VGA does! what do i do? Please help me!!!

Your HP2009M monitor supports (3) methods of accepting signals from a computer. They are: 1) VGA, 2) DVI and, 3) HDMI.

You would connect the computer to the monitor using one connection only. Generally the VGA is the least desirable as it is an analog signal. The DVI and HDMI method provide digital paths into the monitor and often perform better. Your computer may only offer 1 or 2 connection choices, so you'll have to choose a cable type that is supported by both the computer and the monitor. The HDMI choice will pass audio signals to the the speakers in the monitor without needing to run a second cable between the stereo audio jack of the computer and the audio input jack of the monitor (located next to the HDMI jack) or to a set of external speakers (unless of course you prefer the external speakers).

The message you're seeing is normal. Once the monitor is connected to your computer, there will only be one active selection; VGA, DVI or HDMI. Since you're using the analog VGA jacks and cable, it is expected that you'll see a message that there is no signal present on the DVI (and HDMI) inputs when attempting to view signals on other inputs.

I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply, thank you.

Can i connect a dvid cable from the monitor to my flat screen tv hdmi to watch videos from my computer? Thank you Martin

the Flat Screen TV if has, a HDMI input, also has VGA Input.

You must choose :HDMI or VGA, if HDMI The VGA board must Have HDMI Connector, and you connect a HDMI cable to the TV.

The HDMI is a digital signal input/output, VGA is Analog Signal. You must have Signal Converter if you Use the 2 signals

Cannot get second monitor output to work on ATI Radeon X1200

A DVI-D signal is digital (whereas DVi-I is digital AND analogue) and can never be converted into a VGA signal without using expensive hardware boxes that convert the signal. These though tend to lose quite a bit of the signal quality. If I were you I'd look for a monitor with a digital connection, because I'm afraid this isn't going to work.

I'm sorry your problem can't be fixed...

I have a new macbook and I wanted to use it as a dvd player on my insignia tv. I bought the DVI to VGA converter cable but get no signal. What gives?

dvi-d???? dvi-d is digital, and is NOT compatible with a vga signal. vga, is an analog signal, and needs the non-digital version of dvi to work.

"No signal detected" when LCD connected with DVI-D Cable

Thank you for providing your configuration details.
You have failed to specify wheather or not your LCD Display is under Warrenty.

Perhaps these simple trouble shooting procedures will get the job done.

1. use the DVI to VGA adaptor that came with your card

Plug in a regular CRT monitor to the Primary Display Output Port using the DVI to VGA adaptor
( either port can be designated as the primary by you )
I like to use the Port nearest to the motherboard as the Primary

2. plug in the your LCD monitor on Secondary Display port using your DVI cable

At this point you should be able to see your desktop on the Primary CRT Display

3. Go to the display properties and use the Nvidia Dual Display Setup Wizard

set both desktops to CLONED at a resolution of 1024x768 and set the refresh to 60Hz
which is default for most LCD displays , some have higher refresh rates , consult your user manuel

If the display resolution and refresh are set incorrectly for your CRT or LCD you will see
Signal Out of Range ( if the display has the ability to display that error message )

At this stage both displays should be showing a Windows Desktop

If you now see your desktop on both displays , you can now put the LCD on the Primary Port

No Signal Detected ( this means the display device is not receiving a signal )

If your LCD display is still displaying the error message
"No Signal Detected" after performing the trouble shooting proceedures
You may need to read the user manuel about how to enable DVI signal input.

If you are certan you have done everything correctly but still see only "No Signal Detected"

Your LCD Display may need replacement

Lets see the cableing..

So you have a mac with a mini-dvi slot, you have a mini-dvi to dvi adapter, and then Dvi to vga adapter which connects to the tv?

The mini-dvi to dvi adapter doesn't have the analog VGA signal your tv needs. If I understood right.

Apple's mini-DVI to DVI-D cable does not carry the analog signal coming from the mini-DVI port on the Apple computer. This means that instead of buying a single mini-DVI cable from Apple and using a cheap DVI-to-VGA adaptor when you need VGA output, you must purchase another mini-DVI cable from Apple.
