Question about Ingersoll Air Tools & Compressors

We have an Ingersol Rand Unigy IRN-11-8-H with software upgrade increasing current to 21.9 amps and 1.70 cubic meters/min. It has the option switch selecting ramp-up or down or just standard off and on with pressure switch. It will not start with ramp-up selected and sounds awful. It sounds like it is single phasing but everything checks out. It will run on the standard off and on. Is there something easily sorted on the intellidrive unit?

Unfortunately, that drive is pretty well "cleansed". I-R is not like many compressor manufacturers who use a standard Siemens or Allen Bradley drive. They use something obscure and modify it so that you can't get outside support. You will have to go to a IR distributor.

As a side note, the Unigy series was plagued with problems. They had a 120% failure rate, meaning on average that each one failed more than once during the warranty period.

What is cubic feet in 11 feet by 21 feet

You cannot calculate cubic feet from only two measurements. Cubic feet is an area of volume, such as the inside area of a box. With only two measurements you get square feet, which is a measurement of area. A box 11 feet by 21 feet takes up an area of 231 square feet (11 times 21). If the box is 3 feet tall, then you can compute cubic feet since you take all three values and multiply them together. A box 11 feet by 21 feet by 3 feet would contain 693 cubic feet of space (11 times 21 times 3).

I have a new ingersol rand 80 gal 7.5hp air compressor 230volt single phase and was wondering what size breaker it needs to be put on

Your owners manual spec sheet should give you that answer. However since that unit at max loads should pull 32 to 35 amps I recommend 1.5 times max amps. So approximately a 50 amp breaker. This all based on standard wire size and length of wire run. Also when checking your voltage at load you should be showing 235 to 240 volts.

I am changing from 460 V to 230 V on a Ingersol Rand Compressor motor # 32036006 and I cant get it to start it turns real slow is this supposed to have some sort of a motor starter capicitor set up ?

Recheck the way you have the motor leads hooked up, make sure they are correct. You did re connect the motor leads didnt you? You are not trying to run it on 230v single phase are you? Assuming it is a dual voltage motor, the leads will have to be re connected from hi voltage to lo voltage. Also when you cut the operating voltage in half the operating current(amps ) will double, all this info should be on the motor name plate. This motor does not use a capicitor to start it

Ingersol rand model 3000, serial no 9835350,size 5.5"&5.5"&4"x4",would like to know pumping capacity per/min

If the motor is a 20 horsepower it is pumping app. 80 cubic feet per minute . Here's a good rule of thumb 4 cfm per horse power.

Ingersol T30 won't shut off and blows pressure release valve

the wire juction box on your compressor has a pressure switch that may be wound in to tight take the cover off the box there should be a switch with a machine screw with nut and washer and spring back this nut off and see if that helps if you go to far you just crank it back in until the switch hit although it may be the other way around you may have to tighten to lower the pressure some of them are made that way if this does not solve your problem send me a picture of the switch and can solve it from there
