Question about Orange Sport & Outdoor - Others

Open Question

Have set up Orange Flybox to PC using Ethernet cable provided with unit, no problem unit works well. I then tried with two of my Laptops (Internal wireless devices) to connect thru to the wireless link to the flybox, one of the laptops failed to even see the flybox, my other Laptop sees the link tries to connect and then switches off and then almost straight away reconnects and then off again. I have heard that some Laptops do struggle. I do have a D-Link wireless Router I was wondering if I should connect this to the Flybox using the Ethernet cable as I know both Laptops have worked of the D-Link before. Thanks Mike michi@dynabyte.bw

SOURCE: Unable to detect my router

This is because your router is setting your pc at a different IP address than your original modem. Make sure router is set to enable DHCP which gives out an automatic ip address and check your wireless card and network cards are set to obtain ip address automatically. It may take a few re-starts to get on the internet as your systems will need to clear their previous DNS settings. Also i assume you have set up the home network wizard (XP) as you are now using a router and not a direct modem. Also try Start>Run, then type ipconfig /flushdns then press enter.

the easiest would be to login to the router and set another network key.
if you're unable to login you'll have to reset the router and reconfigure it.

Wireless not working on acer aspire 5551a

Connect to internet using ethernet cable and update wifi driver from makers site, if this does not work then buy a usb wifi adapter off ebay or from a local store, put it into usb port and install the driver from the disc supplied with the adapter and off you go (far cheaper than replacing the wifi card)

Hi

If you have an internet connection using the ethernet cable but not on the wireless and there is an orange light blinking.. Try to reset the router by pressing the reset button located on the back or on the location were you can twist the stand for the router. press it for about 10secs and that will return the router on a factory settings. before u reset the router make sure to acces the configuration for the internet settings of your isp provider. if the orange light still there, try to download the latest firmware of your router on linksys site and that should fix the problem

Connect using an Ethernet cable first of all. Once all set up, THEN go wireless using security code password for wireless.

Do the same for each new computer. Ethernet direct connection first, then wireless once you KNOW it's working.

Ethernet port??

The lights are green when active, orange when at idle. This could be a simple driver glitch. Uninstall the ethernet drivers from the device manager and reboot. The machine will find the port and reinstall the drivers. If it still doesn't work try a different laptop on your home service, some of these guys are idiots, and assume the problem is on your end without checking the problem thoroughly.

Hi,

It really depends on what "modem" Orange provided you with and how your personal PC is connected to the modem.

If the "modem" provided by Orange uses WiFi (such as Livebox) networking, then it is a matter of setting up your daighter's laptop to access and use the Livebox WiFi Network. In this case no router is needed since your modem is also a router.

If your PC is connected via Ethernet port to the "modem" and Orange's "modem" is a single Ethernet output port, you would need an AP/Router (Wireless since I am presuming the your daughter's laptop would be accessing the Internet wirelessly) such as the LinkSys WRT54G.

If your PC is connected via USB port to the "modem" and Orange's "modem" has only a USB output port (no Ethernet), you need to make your PC as the default gateway/software router and share your PC's Internet connection. If you are connecting your daughter's laptop using Ethernet cable, then you don't need a WiFi AP/Router but an ordinary hub. If on the other hand the new laptop would connect wirelessly, you would still need something like the WRT54G.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post again how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
