Computer very slow

This can be a number of things but usually over time the system gets clogged up with junk stuff. The best thing is to save all that you want to a separate drive then reinstall operating system ie windows.

Check the disk space left on your hard drive ... most times it doesn't have enough free space for windows to run efficiently.
try removing programs you don't use and put any pics or videos you have on there to a usb drive .

Running very very slowly

Well several things could cause that, but not knowing how long this condition has existed, i will give you steps that should speed it back at least part of the way back like it was before.
First, delete ALL browser history, alot of web browsing means alot of cookies, and they can slow things down, as the computer reads all the cookies before going to a website

Next, run disk cleanup, al have it remove all the available choices.

Next, run disk defragmenter, a defragmented drive is ALWAYS faster than one where the files are scattered in bits all over the drive.

Next, look and see if there any programs installed that you don't use, if so, consider uninstalling them, as they have registry keys that get loaded, even if they don't ever get used, and that uses system resources

Next, disconnect from the internet and run a FULL scan of your entire system, viruses, adware, malware, trojans, keyloggers, and other nasties can slow even a brand new computer down so much that if will feel like you are using a 15 year old computer.

Next, connect back to the internet and go to :

that link is for a computer running windows Vista or Windows 7, if it is running xp, then here is the link for it as well:

run the full scan option....note...this may take some time, I recommend that you do this step at the same time you go to bed, that way it will be finished when you get up, instead of sitting around waiting for what may be hours at a time.

If you have a registry cleaner program, run that AFTER you run the safety scanner, that way you are sure to get all the extra registry entries that point to programs that aren't on the computer anymore, same thing goes with hardware, everytime you connect a device to the computer it leaves a registry entry, the registry tells the OS what the program or device is, where it is located, how it is configured, who is allowed to use it and even performance settings.

If you do not have a registry cleaner, I recommend CCleaner.

Their website is :

I hope this helps you speed up your system.

The speed of my pc has slowed down since instaling mcafee anti virus

McAfee isn't very efficient and, as you can witness, it's a system hog. Sorry, the only thing you can do is to get another antivirus.  I recommend Avast, which is more efficient at protecting your pc an a lot lighter on system resources. And, best of all, it's free for home use.

How will i remove the virus manually?

i hope you got norton off your system before putting AVG free on. Virus programs try to fight off other virus programs by postiong false virus claims to erase the other program. eventually they will kill your hard drive. You need a product key for a good virus protectant. Norton or CA offer good, reliable protection for your dollar. What i would do, is back up any really important stuff you have there, format your hard drive and install Vista again if you have the disc and then re-install it to permanetly delete viruses. Also your system maybe slow because VIsta needs at least a dual core processor and 2 GB RAM to work like a XP machine
