Greetings Reem - There are two likely problems keeping your Pocket PC from connecting to either your home or work WiFi networks.

The first is that your A716 is probably still running Windows Mobile 2003 or has been upgraded to Windows Mobile 5 -- Neither of which is capable of supporting the WPA security standard that is most likely setup on your work network and probably also on your home WiFi router. The easiest thing to do at work is to ask the person in charge of the network what kind of security is used on the network. Same goes for home -- Ask the person who setup the WiFi connection.

If the answer is WPA or anything other than WEP ( or open - meaning no security -- very, very improbable) you won't be able to connect your PDA to that network at all. At home maybe you have a chance to have the security settings lowered to WEP (of course your A716 will also have to be setup to use WEP).

The other possible problem you might be having with connecting is that your device has 802.11b WiFi built in (11 Mbps) instead of the now standard 802.11g (54 Mbps). Some networks are setup only to allow 802.11g connections. Again, you would ask at work and home. Here, if that is the problem, you have a chance of the settings being changed to allow 802.11b connections.

Thanks for using Fix Ya and good luck

I think it is the WPA problem. Is there a way to update the PDA's software?

Thanks so much for your help. It was very helpful!

Reem - I've spent a bit of time looking around for some but Asus pulled your device out of production before issuing a single firmware update.

WPA became available in an updated version of Windows Mobile 5 which was made available as upgrades by Dell, HP, etc.I believe you're stuck with WM 2003 and no way to upgrade because each version of WM5 for example, is specific to each device.

If you like WM PDAs (I do,I have a plain old dumb cell and a Dell Axim X50V as my mobile "Smart" device running WM 6.1). It may be time to retire the old girl. The good news is that you can get a newer and some ways better WM device (Dell or HP) for cheap with everyone hot for smart phones. I think i paid $35 for my X50V on Ebay. There is a very vibrant hacker community athttp://www.xda-developers.com and lots of software available for WM5 and above.

Sorry I can't bring you happier news

My I phone 4 WONT LOAD ANY WEB PAGES PR CONNECT TO INTERNET

Hi Zeisly,

There are two ways to go online on your phone:

1. Via GPRS/HSDPA - Your network operator
Not sure which operator you are with, but you need a working SIM card with a data plan as well as the correct APN settings on your phone to tell the phone how to connect to the operator's internet port.
2. Via Wifi, your own at home or public hotspot
For this your phone will need to have wifi, enabled, and set up with the wifi password entered correctly.

The phone should see which is working and use the appropriate connection to connect you to the internet.

Hope this helps.

What should I do when my Dell Inspiron N5050 refuses to connect to my home wifi?

I would recommend "Forgetting the Network" first off in your Connections Settings. After re-scanning, make sure it is set as Home Network. From that point type the passcode into a notepad/wordpad and copy and paste it into the prompt for the passcode (this will ensure it wasn't even a finger slip).
I will continue to check, but I have only ever had a similar issue with a 4-in-1 scanner...which was just a letter's capitalization wasn't entered correctly.

I have windows 7 home prem and cannot connect says detects strong signal but limited access

Most likely, the access point is not connected to an internet gateway whatever that is at your place.
and since access points does not provide DHCP service by default (handing out IP information to connected clients), you get the limited access message.
In short, make sure the access point is connected to the router because the router is the once responsible for providing the DHCP service.

you might have to open up your network connections click start control panel network connections this may vary depending on your operating system look for local area connection if you see a red x or a yellow exclamation or question mark you will need to update or install the driver or it could be firewalled
make sure your modem/routers settings are correct ie:password user name, firewall settings to allow your internet to connect to your phone

HOW DO I CONNECT TO INTERNET WITH SYVANIA NETBOOK

First, you will need a place to connect to the internet. An ethernet cable (landline connection, wired connection) or a wireless connection (via wifi). You will only be able to connect via wifi if your laptop has a wireless network card as not all laptops do (though most new ones do have a wifi card).

For a wired connection, if you have a plcae then all you should need is to connect an ethernet cable from your PC to the wall or place with the interent service (home, cafe, etc).

For a wireless connection, you will need to open and view all wireless networks. Connect to the one you want to use. You may need a security code (WEP Key) or another passcode of a sort. Enter the passcode and you should be on your way. Let us know how it goes!

Asus PC 900 HD wifi connection failed?

check if the build in wifi finds your router/the home-WAN u already use(??)

turn over router, write down the WPA-nr (16 digits)

use logon program-tool provided with router or laptop,

if working, it should at least display some of the wifi-nets/hot-spots/WANs available at ur place,

then log onto your one, enter wpa-key(is password and for encrypting your connection)

choose defining ip-config using DHCP-standard/automatic ip-adressing,

a network-connection symbol may now pop up at lower right on the task bar :

and retry surfing.

good luck

I am trying to connect my asus mypal to my wireless internet

Hi, I helped a friend of mine with his wifi setup. His WEP Key was on the side of his router. I don't remember the exact work but it was something Key. It was 10 numbers long just right for a 64 bit key. If you are using Win XP there is a wifi setup in there. I have a mypal A626 and had it up and running in a few minutes on my wifi system. If you have security, you will need to find the code in order to get a connection. grader01

IP adress dosent work.

You need to match the security settings on the Wifi router. I do not know what security is set up on your Wifi, so I cannot accurately solve this problem. I have my router set to WEP with a passcode. On the PSP, I tell the network setup that the wifi is WEP and put in a passcode to match the Wifi routers security. If you have the passcode wrong, the IP address part will fail. Just find out the security type and passcode, then set up the PSP's network connection to match.

Hi Tony872,

Do you have a wireless router hooked up to your broadband modem?

If you do not, you will need to purchase a wireless router to hook up to your broadband modem if you want to have wi-fi in your home.

Here is a link that will provide you with some wireless routers that are available.
