My printer puts a line on the photo paper

If it is a yellow, magenta, cyan or black line, you have a leaky jet on the cartridge in question. If you get a blank line, or a line with one of the previous colors missing, you have a clogged jet. It is also possible that the cartridge is dragging a bit of ink-soaked lint on the paper, but this tends to leave a smeary line rather than a well-defined odd-colored stripe.

If cleaning the problem cartridge doesn't solve it, try polishing the cartridge contacts with a soft white pencil eraser, and do the same for the contacts in the printer. Note: many Canon printer models will reject a cartridge that has been removed and put back in. Check your manual on this before starting. You may be able to defeat this by getting the cartridge to the service position, unplugging the printer (wait ten seconds), then clean the cartridge. Put it back in before plugging the printer in again.

I'm trying to print wedding invitations on my Canon MP460. I'm using a cardstock thickness of paper and have set the ink levels for "Other Photo Paper" on my Mac. The paper has been going through...

Sounds like the ink isn't having time to dry and is rubbing along paper.

Paper may be too thick. If it prints OK on normal paper (test first) but not on thick card, then it doesn't support thick paper settings.

I would make sure to keep all the rollers in the printer as clean as possible, the feed rollers especially. Don't store the checks in a damp environment prior to printing. If you do get a new printer , be sure to buy specific to your needs.

Our HP 4250N Laser Printer is leaving a black line approx 2 inches off left side of paper. Tried cleaning rollers and putting printer into clean mode. Nothing is working. Any advice? Thank you.

This is caused either by the fuser or the tonercartridge.

The most common cause is the tonercartridge.
You can test this by forcing a paperjam to stop the paper just after the toner but before the fuser.

To force a paper jam print you can print a page from the manual feed tray and as the last third of the page enters the printer opening the door causes it to halt.

If the black line is there before the toner is bonded to the paper by the fuser you should replace the tonercartridge..

Leaving black streaks down paper? Ink cartridge

If this started after cartridge was replaced, then it is probably defective.

Take the cartridge out and take a look at the print head. Clean the print head.
Put the cartridge back in
Try and feed paper (not printing anything on it, if you can not get it to just feed paper, print a blank page) and see if it still has lines. If so, you are probably going to have to clean ink from inside the paper feed area. If not, try using it for a while and if it starts again, get a replacement cartridge. You might want to save some of the bad prints to show the clerk and try to get the new cartridge under warranty.

Cannon Pixma MP500- I get a solid black line on the reverse side of a printed page. Went through all the cleaning procedures and new cartridge, no change.

For some reason, the printer is designed to dump ink into the bottom of the tray before feeding on the paper. The paper is then dragged over the ink, leaving the black line. This is a software issue, not a hardware one. I'd advise that you update all of your print drivers, as well as your firmware.

A temporary fix is to clean the rollers and base plate of the printer for ink spills.

Check for any bits of paper or debris that may be caught in the printer. Be careful to feed in the paper perfectly straight, as this printer does not have good rollers, and it will cause paper to break off and cause problems. If any debris has caught or absorbed ink, it will cause the back of the paper to smudge, and you have black lines.
