Question about Canon PIXMA MP600 all-In-One InkJet Printer

Hi! My Canon mp600 suddenly started printing very pale copies, and then (after 3 very pale ones) stopped printing at all--all they paper comes out blank, not a drop or a line! What could that be and how to fix it? Thanks!

there is enough ink in all the cartridges, and there is no message saying the cartridges are low in ink..
And all the paper comes out absolutely blank!

  • mmpetrovsky Mar 14, 2011

I use expensive Canon ink cartridges, and I did replace the ink though there was plenty of ink and it wasn't gelled.
Also I did try deep cleaning from the screen menu several times, but the paper comes out pristine white and it still doesn't print a thing!

  • mmpetrovsky Mar 15, 2011

ok, thanks to everyone, but i tried everything with cleaning, deep cleaning to no avail.
The last update-- now even the LCD screen is not seen at all, though the printer is connected to the power cord. It looks totally dead and unresponsive-- I pressed all buttons, checked the cords, plugged to different sockets...

Hello.

Since you have replaced the ink cartridges, try removing the printheads, swish the tips in a saucer of warm water, blot on a paper towel folded to 4 ply thickness, repeat.

Examine the nozzles, if there is still obvious dry ink left repeat cleaning until ink is gone.

The nozzles are delicate avoid the temptation to scrub them.

Also, try reinstalling the printer driver. Here's how to delete a printer icon in Windows 7:

1. Open Printers by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then clicking Printers.
2. Right-click the printer that you want to remove, and then click Delete.

If you can't delete the printer, right-click it again, click Run as administrator, and then click Delete. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Disconnect the USB cable.

Restart your computer.

Reconnect the USB to your computer.

Your computer should see your printer. Install the printer driver.

If still a problem, either your USB port on your PC, or the USB printer cable may be faulty.

Hope this helps.

Here's an additional troubleshooting since the LCD and the lights of the printer are also fading.

Reset the printer to it's factory settings.

I hope that this will help.
    Keep me posted.

From your description it sounds like it has run out of ink. If it's not out of ink then either the ink gelled or you have dirty print heads. Try cleaning the heads (directions will be in the manual)...

Cheap replacement ink can gel up and quit working even though you haven't used the whole cartridge. That makes them not so cheap after all. Better to buy good ink.

When trying to print, paper gets jammed, screen comes up with 'error code 6A00'

Hi
Error 6A00
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:

CANON MP600 - NOT PRINTING IN BLACK INK

I have had the mp600 for 3 years - worked fine on a couple of different pcs. I switched to a mac and encountered 2 issues - scanner stopped working and above problem of no black ink. The newest driver (just google mp600 driver) fixed the scanner issue. The ink issue has a work around - select non plain paper in the media quality tab, instead use any photo paper setting. Finding this area in a mac can be tricky - in the mini print options window you have to click the small chubby arrow and you will then be given a list of options including quality and media. Presto, black ink returns but probably uses more ink and takes longer to print. I have not found a more elegant solution as you have to select this non default paper option every time.
