You can uninstall norton, then reinstall it, and see if the problem persists. Something might have got corrupted, during installation, causing it to not function the way it should.

If this does not work you can double check if you have started off with the correct installation files.

I have had a problem with norton, when downloading trial versions, after doing full (destructive) system restores, so I can insert my license key; however, it would not accept the key and wanted nothing but payment. I had to get a technician and he gave me the correct link (url) to download trials fromso the trial version stopped being a pest. As Norton is very secure so it gives trouble with registration. So if uninstalling and reinstalling does not work, (probably will) you might need to go with the technician and be patient
Tell me if that helps.

Yesteday on downloading Norton Anti Virus on Computer #2 I had thew following error "850,421 and i was not able to finish the work yesterday and am back today...where do I start// Acccount:grantcomb

Hi There -
Most likekly, this is a problem with the Norton installation itself, and Norton needs to be removed and reinstalled using NRE (the Norton Removal Tool) which gets every trace of Norton products off of your machine. There is a detailed explanation and process at the link below and it is direct from the Symantec (Norton) support pages. The NRE tool is also known as NRnR (Remove and Replace) and I've used it many times (I'm an IT admin at a school) and it normally works very well. If for some reason this link doesn't work for you, go to Google and type in "Norton error 8506,421" and press ENTER. Good luck! Error 8506 421 appears on my Norton product

So slow on start up, comp only 6 months old

It will be easy enough to prove whether it is the Norton or not. Make sure you have it registered with Symantec. Uninstall it using Symantec's Norton Removal Tool.

See how it performs. I don't expect much improvement, but at least you can go back to the vendor with some ammo. Hopefully they wil give you some satisfactory help and then you can reinstall the 360 and login to Symantec to reactivate it.

If it does improve to "new" condition...hmmm, I'll have to think about that.

A question: Where you surfing much before installing the Norton 360? There is always a chance you picked up some spyware/malware that is causing the problem. Comment back.

I Have Norton AntiVirus 2006...I have just reactivated it and everything seems to be fine except that the listing for e-mail scanning shows error and when I open it, it tells me that it is off...how do I...

you're using outdated version of norton. reactivation doesn't mean you get another year of support. You may need to call Symantec to check if your version can be upgraded to 2008.
