I have an old Toshiba Satellite Pro ps610u-024k19 that has been sitting in closet for a couple years. There is a bios password on it. I don't remember putting one on it. Therefore i don't know what it is. How do I bypass it? I have taken it apart, removed what I believe to be the cmos battery. I also removed the proccessor. I put it all back together.....password is still there.

With solder, remove the BIOS IC, wait about 10 seconds, then plug it back. To remove the BIOS IC, you must remove the screws down and the LCD.

I can't remember my Toshiba L300 setup password to enable me boot from CD.

There is usually a couple of pads underneath the laptop that will short out the BIOS battery which will reset the BIOS settings.

  • Disconnect the AC and remove the battery
  • Remove the memory
  • Peel back the black plastic film underneath but don't remove it entirely
  • Attach a piece of adhesive tape on the underside
  • Insert a memory stick
  • Stick the tape down on the case
  • You now have access to the two shorting pads named B500
  • Reconnect the AC and short out these pads.
  • Power on the laptop with these pads shorted out until the Toshiba logo disappears
  • Remove the AC and remove the memory stick
  • Remove the tape and replace the black plastic film
  • Reinstall all the memory
  • Replace the battery and the AC
This should have wiped out the BIOS passwords. Use enter to get into the password protected areas.

Toshiba satellite pro l 350 bios password reset

This is the ONLY other way, save paying Toshiba and filling in proof of ownership forms.
The BIOS password is removed by the BIOS configuration, you need the BIOS password to get into the BIOS configuration. But if you do not have the BIOS password then you need to construct this dongle device.
TOSHIBA BIOS PASSWORD DONGLE
You can build a dongle that plugs into the printer port.Purchase a 25 pin male D sub connector and solder insulated wires to the various pins as listed below. The pins are numbered on the connector
http://www.tilman.de/sonstiges/toshiba/dongle1.jpg this is a picture of the finished dongle

Wire the pins as follows :-1-5-10, 2-11, 3-17, 4-12, 6-16, 7-13, 8-14, 9-15
Plug the finished dongle in the printer port and power up the laptop. The password will be reset, go into the BIOS configuration to check the BIOS password, you may have to disable the BIOS password.
