Question about Dell XPS 410 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Why did I lose my TV signal?. I have a Dell XPS 410 running windows 7. When I try to play tv I get a screen with horizontal bars, then screen goes blue and tells me I have update playready. Updating playready did not solve problem. My computer has a ATI theater 650 Pro Combo tuner connected to a u-verse cable box and I have never had any problems before. Hope this is enough info. Thanks for any and all help.

XPS-410 needs to have MCE 2005 Rollup two SP3 replaced by Windows 7 64 bit. Too many problems to list currently but will work limited programs

Not sure what you are trying to do. If you are trying to convert 32 bit to 64 bit Apps, try going to manufacturers website to look for drivers.
Win 7 will actually find the best drivers for your devices.

No signal from HDMI port Dell optiplex 3010

I'm guessing that you're trying to connect to another CPU screen or a TV via HDMI... This is what you need to do (If you're running Windows 7).
1) Open Control Pannel
2) In the search bar in the upper right hand corner type "Connect to a projector" (Without the quotations)
3) Select the option Connect to a projector
4) A selection box will appear. Select the option that you want.

picture diagram is included below. :-)

Yes my dell xps 410 is barely used but the problem im having is when i turn it on that the picture is snowy u know like when the cable goes out or when you cant get no reception i cant get nothing on...

That's a very strange problem. The typical problem with a monitor is that there is no signal, and so the screen goes into a "screen saver" mode. It sounds like it is behaving as if it were a TV. Does your computer have a TV tuner on it? Some models have this option. I'm just wondering if you might have accidentally changed something. Was it working fine up until just now?

Slow computer

If you are running Windows XP/Vista/7:
1. Identify programs that auto-starts with 'msconfig.exe'
2. Identify applications currently running with 'taskmgr.exe'
In case of Vista, upgrade to 7.

Computer stops working

I assume this appears on your computer shortly after you power it on, but before it would normally load the desktop. If so, the easy solution is to reinstall the computer. The specific error you're getting is telling you that while windows was loading up, it couldn't read your drive. It's either missing files, or it has become corrupted.
However, if you reinstall it, you'll first need to backup all your data. There is another method you can try also. Many times, dell will give you a real windows cd with your computer, and label it a restore disk. If so, you can put in the CD, and boot from it. It will open a windows installation screen, and you can choose to do a repair install. Be cautioned though; by pressing the wrong buttons in that installation screen can make you lose all your files! So be careful.
