I have a Samsung SMH9187 about three-four years old I think. It does not heat -- everything else works. When turned on it at first makes a grinding type noise and sparks can be seen inside where the motor...

The magnetron won't make a grinding noise so that makes it sound like the fan motor bearings are bad. However if it doesn't heat, that sounds like the magnetron.

Danby microwave does not heat food and makes loud constant noise

IF the noise is a sound coming from the oven area, its the megatron tube. Typically, replacing the megatron tube is more expensive than replacing wiht a new unit and a new warranty.

Whirlpool over the range Microwave MX2155XPT-3 makes loud noise when turned on and does not heat.

Either capacitor, diode, magnetron or transformer has failed. If it's the transformer there's going to be a burning smell. The rest of the parts will need to be physically accessed to diagnose. Keep in mind that these parts are HIGH VOLTAGE ~2000V and the capacitor will need to be discharged before doing anything in the high voltage compartment. There is a lot of nuances in accessing and testing the high voltage parts, so I'd suggest calling a repairman.
PS Model# does not come up.

Q - The microwave display counts down and the inside light is on,  but nothing is heating and the fan is not running.
A - This most commonly is a bad door switch, other possible problems are a faulty relay or solder joint on the power module, but a bad door switch is most common.
Q - My microwave is running and sounds like it is working but will not heat up anything.
A - Many thing can do this but, common things are....loose high voltage wire.....poor solder joint on board.....magnetron.....power relay.....
Q - The microwave makes a loud "hum or buzz" noise but will not heat up the food?
A - 9 times out of 10 this is usually this is a bad magnetron, the other time is sometimes a bad high voltage diode. See components section.

Wont heat items in the micro or convection

MODEL NUMBER NEEDED

Apparently this is not actually an R-510HK since that model does not have convection mode. Can you reply back with the correct model number? We may have the service manual for you.

A PRELIMINARY OPINION

It sounds like you have loose door switch mounts or possibly loose door hinges.

If the door won't open via the door open button, then the outer cover will have to be removed.

BEFORE YOU RATE THIS

This is a preliminary post, asking for further information (model). Please withhold your rating until we actually offer the solution.

Microwave makes a loud noise while using.

Could you describe the noise?

It may be a noisy fan motor or a failing magnetron or high-voltage transformer.
