Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

My zen creative volume is stuck-- it would only go up (louder) and not down. Now it is all the way up and when I press the lower part of the volume bar, no read-out appears.

Hi Barbara,
This symptom indicated that you're tack switch (volume down) is already faulty. The common reason is the bad solder joints in that switch or it has no contact at all that's why even when you pressed the switch it will not sense by the processor.
To solve the issue, you may spray the switch with contact cleaner but this is only 50% chance of success, replacing the switch with new one will permanently solve the problem.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

I had the same problem....ok here's what you do, make sure the ZEN is off first then switch it on my pushing the switch down (like usual). So switch it on and press the play/pause button at the same time. It may take a couple of tries but after you get it, the screen will say "Recovery Mode" at the top. Now go down to "Clean Up" and click it. It will then ask, "Disk cleanup will be performed. Continue?" Click yes. When it's done, turn off the ZEN and turn it back on. Does it work!? Ha I'm a 13 year old genius.

Zen mozaic has frozen and now it won't even turn off, have tried pressing all the buttons but nothing happens

Did you try the reset button on lower left side of player? I use a twist tie and cut paper or plastic off tip to press button.

How to reset code for powering off restrict volume on my creative zen neeon 2

Here is a quicker solution if you have already chosen Europe?

Well, thanks to my investigations I have found there is a solution. Pressing reset will not work and installing new f/w is a pain.

Instead, open your S9 system folder, and simply delete the "PARAM" file. Power off. Power up. (There is no need to change firmware at all).

You are back at the original screen. 1. Choose your language. 2. Next DO NOT CHOOSE THE EUROPE setting. 3. Third, choose your radio setting - any will do.

Volume too low on zen

Try going to System>Audio Settings>Restrict Volume on your ZEN. This is a password protected feature for parental controls i guess... If this doesn't work, get a hearing aid : )

Zen player stuck on -shutting down

Try to find a small hole with the text "Reset" next to it. Find something small(paper clip for instance) and simply just press the button inside the hole, you will hear a small "click".

Zen wont turn on or charge

Creative Zen
Try another PC or another USB port
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Reset
Check for firmware update on Creative's website
Get Recovery Tool from Creative
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If all else fails, check with this guy:

My mp3 won't start.

You could try reflashing the firmware onto the player. Go to www.creative.com and look for the support section. Search under downloads for firmware for your player and download that. Follow the instructions on the website.
