This can be the result of any of a relatively large number of problems.

  • Bad power cable
  • Bad power switch
  • Faulty power supply
  • Faulty motherboard
  • Some other device in the computer with a short in it
  • Faulty video card
  • Faulty processor
Only a few of these problems are something I could recommend to someone who is not experienced in computer repair.
  • Bad power cable - Swap out power cables. Try swapping the power cable with the one to your monitor.
  • Faulty power supply - Changing a power supply is not terribly difficult. Everything pretty much only fits one way, and only in the right place. You will likely have to buy another power supply to even test this.
  • Faulty video card - Even easier to do than the power supply. Simply disconnect the old one and put the replacement in the same socket. Note than many newer video cards require a direct connection to the power supply, so don't forget to plug in the power cables to it. Please note that some computers have the video card built-into the motherboard and cannot be removed.
  • Unfortunately, the video card is one of the 3 most expensive components in most computers. For many, it would not be plausible to test this problem on your own do to the cost of a missed diagnosis.
All of the rest should really be diagnosed and repaired by a trained technician. The cost, difficulty, and chance of collateral damage that could result from incorrect diagnosis or improper repair is simply too great to recommend to someone who doesn't already know how to perform the repairs and tests.

Also, keep in mind that, except for the the power cable replacement, ALL OF THESE PROCEDURES WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY. The only way to get these done without voiding your warranty is to have the procedure done by HP or an authorized repair shop.

The fact that the power button is flashing when you push it shows that the computer is still receiving power, however if the computer does not boot then some hardware in the computer must be damaged or faulty. You will likely have to take it to a repair shop so they can figure out which piece of hardware is defective, although i suspect it is the motherboard.

HP Pavilion a1514n wont power on. Green light lite on back. Front power button flashes blue when pressed.

That blue flashing light may be a POST code. Does it flash continuously or does there seem to be a pattern to it?

I hope this helps! If this did help you, please give a thumbs up!

Thank you for choosing FixYa!

My "hp pavilion a220n" won't power on. ... I was

Pull the power cord out and press the power button on the PC to drain the power for 10 seconds. Then plug the power cord back in and turn the computer on. If still does not work, then the power supply may be blown out and needs replacement.

My "hp pavilion a220n" won't

Check all wires for loose connections--- if the memory was wrong or something, it would still attempt to boot but stop during the POST and start to beep

HP Pavilion dv9700t battery dead, faint blue flash from plug

Check your mains adapter plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.

If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. I suggest you get a quote first.

I need to know where the wireless switch is on an HP Pavilion ZV5410US laptop computer

Most HP Notebook PCs have wireless devices built-in. To turn on the built-in device, simply press the wireless power button on your PC which will have the universal symbol for Wi-Fi (shown here on the left) and illuminate with a blue light.

Hp pavillion will not turn on, took battery out and put back in still not working. blue light around power cord on and blue lightening bolt flashes

Hi Iceprincess5

The three flashing lights indicate the battery is dead. Since it still wont power up with the cable plugged in I'd say the port has gone. Try wiggling the adapter about in the port to see if it begins to charge. If not then you would need to take it to a laptop repair centre to get a new dc port soldered on or buy a docking station.

Hp pavilion f1703 blue monitor power button flashesw/ dark screen

Have you tried connecting this monitor to another computer, even a laptop. This would tell you whether the display is bad or the video card is the culprit. I suspect the monitor's power supply is dying. Taking it to a pro for repair should cost @55.00. Buying a new monitor @ $100 - $125.
