There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both causing the protection circuit to kick in the moment you turn it on (the clicks you hear).

Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for 5 mins, then try.

If you aren't tech savvy, this unit needs to go in for repair.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for different brand, but same issue) on youtube.

I pasted the most relevant video right here, and links to others that are basically the same issue.

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.

Tv will not turn on i push power on button and blue lights click on an tv acts like it will come on but then tv shuts off and no picture appears

The blue light merely indicates power is getting to the TV. When you press the power on button, the defective power supply shuts the TV down immediately

MY AV-50D501 shuts down as soona s i try to power it on. The power light will come on for a sec and click but shuts down immediately thereafter

The main board to your TV should be troubleshooted, especially to its horizontal output section circuit; for any shorted component/s. Seek support by any experienced service technician.

Tv turns on and immediately powers down. no

Hello,

The power light may be flashing or if you are runing with a series light bulb it may be cycling on and off continuously. There may be a chirping or clicking sound from inside the set. (Note: using too small a series light bulb load during testing for the size of the TV may also result in this condition.)

If there is a low voltage regulator or separate switching supply, it could be cycling on and off if the horizontal output, flyback, or one of its secondary loads were defective.

Does this TV have a separate low voltage regulator and/or switching power supply or is it all part of the flyback circuit? For the following, I assume it is all in one (most common).

Some simple things to try first:

Verify that the main filter capacitor is doing its job. Excessive ripple on the rectified line voltage bus can cause various forms of shutdown behavior. An easy test is to jumper across the capacitor with one of at least equal voltage rating and similar capacitance (make connections with power off!).

Use a Variac, if possible, to bring up the input voltage slowly and see if the TV works at any point without shutting down. If it does, this could be an indication of X-ray protection circuit kicking in, though this will usually latch and keep the set shut off if excessive High Voltage were detected.

MY LCD TV MAKES A CLICKING NOISE, THEN SHUTS OFF ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT'S TURNED ON.

The clicking is from the power board relay. It has detected a fault and shuts off. It may be a problem with the power board or one of the other boards is loading it down. Better to have a tech look at it.

Standard TV-Auto shut down

TV's have a circuit that monitors the high voltage and shuts down the set if it senses something amiss.
Figure on replacing the flyback transformer.
However, my experiance is to not put money into a TV that is over ten years old. TVs stress out their electronic components worse than almost any other electronic product. After 10 years, there are so many parts that are ready to fail that your are probably wasting your money trying to get any more life out of it.
Another option is to wholesale replace the main board from an outfit like PTS Electronics at ptscorp.com.
Hope ya fix it!

No power, clicks and turns off immediately

I had the same problem with my RCA. When I opened it up to check it out, everything seemed fine, but on closer examination found that someone had spilled coke on the top of the tv, and it leaked down into the circuit board and shorted it out. A little windex and a hairdryer on the board straightened it out.
