I connected my Panasonic Lumix DCM TZ11 into my USB port - received a power surge on the USB port - reset the USB port on the computer, but I can't now get the camera out of USB Mode!! I have left the main battery out for 2 days to try & kill the battery inside the camera - still not going out of USB mode?? Any Ideas?

1. If you can get into the camera menu, find "reset" and follow the on-screen instructions. 2. If you can't, remove the card and battery...press every button...leave it alone for 20 minutes....insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

HP LaserJet 2430 Printer Will Not Print since USB Power Surge Error

INSUFFICIENT POWER - USB PORT
If you get an error message "Insufficient power to operate USB device" when you plug a USB device into the computer's USB port or the un-powered USB hub that is attached to the computer's USB port, then this device is drawing excessive current that the USB port cannot supply. The maximum output from an USB port is 500mA. In case such as this, you need to purchased a powered USB hub and connect this hub into the computer's USB port and then connect the USB device into this powered USB hub.

I cannot download the pictures from my Lumix DCM Z23 to my Mac

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

The connecting cord you got with the camera has a small USB plug that goes into your camera and a normal size USB that you plug into a USB port on your computer.

Power Surge on Hub Port

Some USB devices draw excessive power from the USB port, especially USB scanners. When this happens you need a powered USB hub, connect this to your computer's USB port and connect the USB device into the powered USB hub, you should not have any further error power surge problems.

Connection to PC no longer working

Sorry for the delay. The hotel wireless connection took a dive. If the camera works OK and it is just a message then go to Control Panel>Device Manager>Universal Serial Bus Controllers>USB Enhanced Host Controller>right click to select properties>Advanced and then check the box that says "Do not tell me about usb errors". That will stop the error messages which only mean that the camera is drawing slightly more than 500mA which is a USB 2.0 feature that you can disable to revert to USB 1.1 but not necessary if the camera works. Each of the Host Controllers has a check box like that. The USB Root Hubs below that have similar checkboxes to Reset if you ever get a message that the Root Hub needs to be reset just for your own info. This is a common annoyance and is probably more due to the USB cable quality than the camera actually drawing more power. Feel free to repost if you have any other concerns. Steve Medley
