Question about Amana Washing Machines

Open Question

Amana Washer mdl LW8303W2, mfg. PLW8303W2B: Washer intermittently seems to skip past end of cycle. Is this strictly a timer issue or is there something else that could cause the timer to continue into the next cycle?

SOURCE: what size is an Amana

I had the very same question, so I can buy a replacement that is just as big. Not finding the answer online, but only your question, I measured mine and calculated the volume at about 2.5 cubic feet. I am surprised it seems so small, because it is labeled as an extra large capacity. Of course, it is now about 15 years old, so maybe the new ones are mega washers or something. I wonder if I will get that much time out of a new one.

It sounds like the "repaired" main control board is still the issue with it being intermittent.

The machine completes 2 cycles instead of 1

Based on your description of the problem. The only way this can happen is if the timer is faulty. It is simply skipping the intended end time and continueing the cycle. However when is the timer, it usually wont run correctly for both cycles..but it sounds like you may have sort of lucked out on how it has become faulty. Hope this helps.

Thanks

The selector for the spin cycle intermittently does not work

Yes. It is a timer. A lot of time though, the washer stop because the lid control switch is open. I means the washer has a sensor to stop when the lid is open or when the spin go widely unbalanced. Sometimes this sensor is too sensitive to vibration and stop the machine. The switch is in the back just behind the timer.

My Amana top load washer does not spin when it gets to this cycle and just "hums". Suggestions?

You probably have a motor issue, Have you checked the spin in the other cycles, if the washer spins in other cycles its not the motor, its a timer issue.

A new motor will cost you $120 american and a timer will cost you about 85. try repairclinic.com or partselect.com.

Price out replacing the washer vs fixing it.

look for a small hole along the side of it that may hold a set screw...turn the screw counterclockwise...the screw may be a hex-head
