Sounds like it has a bad cylinder and the oil bypassing is fouling up the plug in that cylinder. Do a compression test on the cylinders to see if they are both the same and match what they should be. If it a bad ring that is causing the problem it will have to be rebuilt. Check the cylinder walls to see if it is worth rebuilding before you spend too much on it

Everytime it missfires the unburned fuel will be burned in the catalytic converter. Hopefully you can get it tuned up before the cat. conv. is ruined. Plugs, wires, coils etc. While the plugs are out run a compression test . Look at plugs for oil fouling at that age valve stem seals sure could be an issue and feeding oil into the exhaust system fire you have going on.

Spark plugs foul immediately

Fouled plugs may be caused by oil leaking into the cylinder. Does it smoke when running (cold), are you using up the crank oil. Black smoke is excess gas comsumption, blue smoke is oil burning. If your plug is fouled with black carbon, you are most likely running to rich.

Truck starts but stops immediately and smoke comin out of my tailpipe

Well it depends on the color of smoke if it's WHITE; it could be a blown head gasket (check coolant levels and then oil to see if it is milky looking) BLUE: could be burning oil, which could result to fouling plugs (check spark plugs for fouling) BLACK; too much fuel flooded (check spark plugs for fouling)

Help with 76 ironhead 1000 fouls plugs when it get hot and it wont charge

Ok, you have two problems. Fouling plugs and charging system problems. Work with one problem at the time. I'd work on the plug fouling problem first. What is fouling the plugs? Is it oil or gasoline fouling the plugs. Take one of the fouled plugs out and smell of it. Is it gasoline or oil fouling the plugs? If its gasoline, you have a problem with the carburetor. In this case, I'd need to know what kind of carb is on the engine. Is it the original Keihin or has someone put an aftermarket carb on the engine? Do you know how to check the jet sizes in the carb? If it's oil fouling, is it due to valve guides or rings? Does the engine smoke from the tailpipes? What color is the smoke? Black or blue smoke is caused by a too rich fuel air mixture. White smoke is oil burring.

As for your charging system, the first thing to do it to polarize the generator by momentarily shorting the positive battery post with the armature of the generator. If the generator still does not charge, you need to check the brushes in the generator and the output of the generator.

Good Luck

I just got a 2000 zr 7 and it has good compression but smokes after a few minutes of running. The far left cylinder fouls the plug, as I said it has good compression, but has been sitting for 3 years, how...

What color is the smoke? A blue-ish smoke is burning oil, a blackish smoke is unburnt gas. If the plug fouled with gas or oil? Does the plug foul at idle, or while riding it? Full throttle? or partial throttle? Answer those questions and you will know if you have a an oil leak in the head or overly rich mixture at idle, or during an open throttle position.

It sounds like too much gas (since you say it has good compression -- did you do a real compression check?). I'd get the carbs synch'ed and make sure they all have their idle mixture screws set correctly.

Double check that the head bolts are properly torqued. There is a crankcase breather if stuck open could be drawing oil into the intake, and there is a valve stem seal on each intake valve that could be leaking. All this is assuming that the oil level is not over full. They will smoke like a banshee if they have to much oil in them.

Engine smoking and missing

too much oil...drain it (all of it !!) and refill with "no more than" 2 qts...keep checking it as you fill...now...since it has been smoking, it will for a while until the oil residue in the muffler is burned out...also, replace the plugs...cleaning is no guarantee that they won't foul out...

Gpz1000rx number 1 cylinder fouling spark plug, causing miss fire and light blue smoke

Your cylinder is worn. Its allowing oil past the ring. The oil is fouling the plug and the burning oil is causing the blue smoke. After 22 years the Kawi needs a freshened up top end.
