Is this a three blade ride-on? If so, I'd say the middle blade is broken, blunt or the spindle to it has failed/seized and its not spinning/cutting.

If it hasn't been serviced in the past 12 months, I'd suggest you take it in for one.

Why do my stitches "fall off" the edge of the fabric sometimes? It eeven hapoebs when i serging down the middle of a strip.

Most likely, the looper tensions are off--perhaps too loose. Be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the machine and then make an extra little tug on every thread when going through the tension disks.

Here's a document you can download and keep with your machine: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&ved=0ahUKEwi24O6mm6XTAhVp04MKHaOCDs8QFggzMAI&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bernina.com%2Fen-US%2FLocal-Resources%2FUSA%2FQuilting-Sewing-Embroidery%2FTensionHeadaches%2FBERNINA-Serger-StopTensionHeadaches&usg=AFQjCNHVP7gBN-VKOPkid_7jzIl76cZo8g

I got a new Brother 1634D Serger and would like to make a quilt on it. How do you get a 1/4 inch seam? please help me

Don't expect a quilt to be as accurate from a serger as from a sewing machine. First, you probably want to focus a strip quilt where rows of strips are stitched together. If you do strips, you won't have to worry so much about maintaining an exact 1/4" seam. You can also vary the widths of strips in order to camouflage any seam variations. Avoid a pattern that requires points being aligned! Any seam width variances will not as obvious as an error (it is intensive getting an accurate 1/4" on a sewing machine--so-o-o-o much more difficult on a serger). There are usually seam width marks on a serger that you can follow as a guide, but straight line serging is very difficult to accomplish. You can always try marking a line on your serger using painter's tape.

FWIW, making a strip quilt on a serger is a fast way of finishing a quilt. I divide my quilt into 3 or 4 sections, like making it in thirds or fourths. That way, when the quilt begins to grow, you are not constantly grappling with flipping or turning the heavy and bulky fabric. Instead, do each section separately, then stitch the sections together to make the whole quilt.

Also, be sure to press all the seams of a strip quilt in the same direction.

Need instructions for Mccalls pattern 7101 for bows can you help

Try contacting the pattern company. Otherwise, you will most likely need to purchase a duplicate pattern to get the instructions.

It looks like you may fold the fabric (wrong-sides together) on the center line, stitch the raw edges together but leave about a 3-4" gap unstitched (somewhere around the middle), then turn the fabric right side out through the gap, push out the points on the corners, hand-stitch the gap closed, then press.

Have you tried a new needle? Needles should be changed out before each project and if a large project, several times during the project.

Try using a double strip of tissue paper 1 1/2 x5/8 inch placing it about 3/4 inch under edge of fabric and middle of seam allowance. Start stitching on the tissue paper and continue onto the fabric to the end of seam. After that remove the tissue. You can also hold both threads and slightly pull them when you first begin the seam to help them reach the back feed dogs.

The manual can be downloaded for free from Singer's web site...
Are you seeing loops of the upper thread on the bottom side? If so, then the bobbin tension is too tight, or the upper tension is too loose. The threaded shaft on the upper tension might have stripped, leaving you with no adjustability.

Embroidery Hoop

Any authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer will be able to get the hoop for you. Replacing the screw is much more economical and that same dealer will have access to the part number so that they can order it for you. This will take longer but will cost about 1/10 as much.
To find your nearest dealer, or one a little farther away, check the dealer locator at:

It is important to leave about 3 inches out of the end of the loopers when threading. leave them lie where they come out of the jets. Put fabric under the foot and sew, do not wory about putting the thread under the foot. If it still does not work try changing the needles.
