You can reset the router by pressing the reset button on the rear. Then login to the router at http://192.168.1.1 and use 'admin' for both the user name and password. Then you can change the username and password to whatever you want. You can also change the name of your wireless network and password for that as well.

Hope this helps

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Hi,
Look at the back of the router for Reset button and reset your router to restore factory settings. Turn over router and check in the bottom default access IP address and then type that IP address in to your browser. Then it shall ask you for ID and password. Enter `Admin` or `admin` as ID and `Password` or `password` as password. You will see a web based setup opened in front of you. Go to the Wireless Lan settings and then you will SSID so change the SSID and this would be your network`s name. Then go to subsection security and select WPA2-PSK or simple WPA-PSK then enter your desired network key. Once done with all these things the click apply and reboot if prompted. Good Luck

Upgrade Linksys WRT54G2 firmware failed.

there are 3 variants of the WRT54G2 , v1, v3 and v5 ensure that you choose the right firmware for the variant(its on the bottom of the router)
Go to the US site as this has more uptodate versions of the firmware.
For example v1 in the UK is at 1.0.0.0 dated 2008
v1 from the US site is 1.0.0.4 dated 2009

How to change password

HI ada122mt99

What you will do is go to your browser and in the address line type in 192.168.1.1 then a window will come up asking for the current user name and password. Enter that information and it will let you in. Once inside the router, you go to settings, were it will let you change the password.

Now, if you don't know the current user name and password, on the back of the router is a reset button, press and hold the button for approximately 5 seconds, and it will reset it the user and password back to the MFG's default.

Good Luck,

Mark

Stop using the setup disk. It does not work. Connect to your router via a web browser to 192.168.1.1. Username blank, input your password and configure the router as normal.
