Is this a home recording setup?
Often home wiring is not of an adequate standard for quality recording. The problem then lies in 'noisy' wiring - cables in the wall that are not well shielded from each other.
Two possible solutions:
First, if the plug from your recording equipment is 3-prong, try using a 3-prong to 2-prong adapter for it. This would eliminate noise from the grounding wire.
Second, consider purchasing a "Power Conditioner". Prices can range from US$50 to several hundred dollars.
