Question about Maytag Dryers
I had the same problem on the same model of dryer. I am guessing this solution will be too late for you (post from 2008) but I found a solution to mine so will post for the future of anyone looking for it!
With no ventilation coming out, the dryer draws the moisture away and it will pool under the machine, as well the top will get hot.
In my case, the blower wheel needed to be replaced, and it solved both the heat/pooling water problems! (As well as dried the clothes faster! :)
Hope this is helpful to someone!

I recommend having a professional check on this. it sounds like the exhaust duct inside the machine is broken or leaking heavily. the buildup of dryer lint inside the machine could be a major fire hazard if not fixed. make sure the repair person also cleans out the inside of the dryer after making the repairs.
