If you have a speaker icon in your taskbar at bottom right of your screen, left click on iy. A window should come up "playback devices" . Right click on that and a window should come up showing your devices. If the window is empty, right click on the window. Another window should pop up with "show disabled devices", click on that. Realtek should show up. You want to enable this. If you were able to enable device, right click on your speaker icon and adjust volume. If your still having problems let me know.

Did you check to see if the speakers are muted, Go to the little speaker icon in the tray (toward the right), left click on it and open the "mixer", you should be able to see if the sound is muted there. If it isn't muted, try plugging in some earphone and play some music or something you know works on your computer. If you hear sound from the earphones, then you know your sound fuction is ok and that the problem may be the spearkers ( if this is a laptop, you could still have a spearer problem, but more difficult to fix) hope this helps.

My computer got wet and now it doesn't work. Do I need a new motherboard? Water poured into it while it was off, so I told everyone it was down. A friend tried to ''fix'' it by turning it on. Now it just...

At least the motherboard is fried. My guess is that everything in it is dead since when a motherboard dies a nasty death like this it drags down everything with it.
Lesson for the future: if there's even the slightest whiff of water near some sensitive electronics then disconnect it from the power until you are ABSOLUTELY sure the water is gone.

No sound from X-540 speakers

are you getting power out of the speakers? tried them elsewhere? maybe the port burned out on the board and an audio card maybe needed. try an audio card and see if that works and return to best buy (if you have one near you) if thats not the problem. you can try to reset your motherboard to default values? if the computer shows your drivers working properly then maybe its the speakers. ive seen tht happen to good speakers. its a bummer deal!

it sounds like your computer power supply went bad.
go to your local computer store and buy a power supply, install it and you should be up and running.

that is if you didn't fry everything from running it without the proper cooling.

make sure that you have proper cooling fans in your computer, a fan outside will not do it.
It sounds like your power supply fan stopped working and it just got to hot and died

No Sound ... (main input module) ?

the module itself is 56.00 dollars then the labor to install, its hard to find the seperate components the factory has set things so that you have to buy the whole control module to replace one part or board. try and find that component on e bay or used some where thats your best bet to fix it.

Speaker doesnt give sound

Based on the fact that you have put a headset in and another speaker system and it is working properly there is nothing wrong with your windows settings. I would leave them alone. The issue appears to be with the hardware. Have you attempted to plug the speakers into another source (ie. cd player, ipod, etc)? If you plug them in there and they don't work, take the speakers back and have them exchanged. If they're not under warranty you're going to have to either get them fixed or replace them. Good luck on this one! JC
