There is a button on the front that switches between XLR and 1/4" inputs. Make sure that your mic doesn't require phantom power, as the FastTrack doesn't supply the right voltage.

Make sure the volume is up on the guitar, and the gain is up on the Fast Track. You also may need a preamp for your guitar.

I can record voice, but no guitar. Just as many people on this forum, but i didn't saw a proper answer for my problem. I can hear my guitar im using pro tools SE. The light on my fast track lights up,...

In Protools go into hardware setup and make sure that your interface is being read properly. It may be set to something other then your fast track. Then, in the MIX window make sure that your input is set correctly. If your microphone is plugged into input 1, your input on your protools track should correspond to that.

Can i use my own electric guitar stomp box to record onto a tascam 2488 neo without miking an amp?

Yes, you should be able to go direct into the recording input if your guitar has a preamp in it and the 2488 may have adequate gain to even accept the input from a passive guitar.

You've got two inputs on the DP-02 so you can record two sources at once.

Depending on how you want the electric guitar recorded (mic the amp, or direct line in) you can in the first case plug your guitar mic into one of the mic inputs on DP02 and plug your vocal mic into the other mic input. You also have the option of plugging the guitar directly into the DP02 (using the hi-z input - I believe it is labelled 'guitar' or something on the DP02. I any event I believe it's the one on the left). This way you only need one mic for use recording the vocal part.

To avoid any 'bleed' between channels you can use the headphones while recording this way and you'll avoid having the unamplified guitar sound coming through over the vocal mic.

Once you have the mics or guitar and mic plugged into two inputs, you need to assign the inputs to a channel (track) to record on. You do this by pressing the select button for the input and then pressing the select button for the track where you want to record the input. Do this for both inputs so that they are recording on different tracks. Then arm the tracks for recording by pressing the record button for each track and the lighted buttons will flash above each armed track. Then just press play and record and you'll be recording. You can go back and redo it as many times as you like and record over what is there, or preserve a take and assign a new track (or tracks) for another take. You've got 8 to play with.

Hope this helps.

Record your voice?

The recorder for this unit was designed to be connected to a PC or other music player that fed a powered signal. Connecting a microphone without a power supply and amplifier to it will not record since the port requires a powered send.

The "B" port will record a "Line Level" signal but not a "Mic Level" signal. you will need a pattery powered microphone for you to record your voice with this unit.

It works...but not the way you'd like it to.
