Question about Toshiba Satellite A305-S6857 Laptop
On the computer manager, go to the device manager and disable the processors. It worked for me like a charm after several attempts to restore it to original settings and formatting the hard drive. It doesn't affect performance, it seems to be more a failure of the drivers than the hardware.

My Toshiba A305-S6858 keep restarting automatically frequently when the power cord is plugged in. It seems to be working fine when run on battery, but the battery has suddenly giving very less backup of max 25 mins when fully charged. When removed battery and used only power cord, it fails to boot or hangs or restarts quite often. What could be the cause?

That sounds annoying :). If it's the case, that it restart when it is in normal window, updating the BIOS is not applicable. Installing BIOS update is very risky, your charger must be connected and the process must not be interrupted. Interruption will cause the motherboard to fail. If the problem just started, you may try the system restore in safe mode to go back in the last working condition of the laptop. If this will not resolved the problem, you have to do the system recovery. You need to back all of your files, once you do the recovery everything will be deleted and it will just load the factory settings.

Hope it helps you.

This problem is typical of a failing NEC/TOKIN Proadlizer, which needs to be replaced. How it can be done is shown here: http://gs138.photobucket.com/groups/q251/S1BXDWUERU/

Try to do what you're normally doing when you're trying to boot into safe mode, but instead, choose "Last Known Good Configuration." Also, try running the computer when it's plugged in, but the battery is removed. If this works fine, then try and run the computer with both the battery and the power outlet and see how that goes.
