I hate to be the one to tell you this but it is a 2.5 ton. You see the 28 in the model number, 12,000 btu per ton of cooling, the 28 makes it 2.5 tons.

Check all wring. Remove cove and see if you can turn over by hand.If you can't unit is broken/frozen.it should run on 120. look at the plug if prongs are vertical the unit 120vac. Look on motor wire box if it can be rewired it will be there. I doubt this unit is designed to operate on 120vax. The mots/pump assembly is not available for purchase. there are a few repair parts available. do you want to spend the time and money for rewind.? good luck

It sounds to me like your regulator is shot. It is the knob you have been turning in the (-) direction. The gauge reading 120 is the regulated pressure and the gauge reading 130 should be the tank pressure. You can find a new regulator from any Ace Hardware store.

Not certain but I believe 19 is required. Where are you reading this 16.9 and take a reading from the outdoor unit WITH OUT the wire attached and see what you get. Possibly a bad wire heading inside or weak transformer.

My compressor gauge does not go below 50psi and when i turn it on the gauge goes up to 180 psi

This sounds like the gage is out of calibration. 50 psi sounds about right for this model. I believe 120 psi is max press. and it should pop the safety at 130 psi. Drain the tank, it has a drain at the bottom of the tank. Remove the gage from the fitting. It should read 0 with it out of the system. If it does not read 0 she is out of calibration. I do not believe this gage can be calibrated back to 0 if it is sprung. You will have to find a new one or do the math in your head. If the gage does go back to 0 once removed. Your regulator is bad, you can try to rap it with a hammer handle to see if that will get it back in line. Next step would be to replace the regulator assy. Hope This Helps Fix Ya up.

If you were told to replace the entire compressor unit (condensing unit), the person diagnosed the compressor is most likely bad. Depending on the age of the unit, it is hard to tell if this is a good decision. Overall condition plays a role in the decision process as well.

Kenmore Elite: Model 66576962K601.

I had exact same issue. I've called Sears Maintenance. They had to change 2 pieces in UI: Timer KUDS02SRB10 and CONSOLE Assy. Cost 360$ pieces 130$ Job Charge 60$ taxes.
Now It works perfectly, but I bought 1100$ 3 years ago... Really expensive to keep it running.

Need to replace the alternator on my 1998 aurora w/ 4.0 northstar engine. any exploded view diagrams or diagrams period available?

Hey man, it's not too bad. Discharge the A/C. Take out compressor, take out bracket, take out alternator. There will be 2 bolts on the top of the alternator which are kinda hard to get to. Then there are two bolts on the in side of the compressor and I believe 4 total on the front. Google an electric motor repair place in your area!!! I get mine rebuilt for $50 vs $300 form a parts store. Or, get a brush kit. I believe on those you don't even have to take the alternator apart, only the black cover on the back. There you go, $12 you did it yourself.

Goodman unit freezing outside the unit

Its not the thermostat.

The things that can cause this problem are lack of or poor airflow over the Evaporator coil. Or a low system charge. Or quite possibly a restriction in the line on the low side. When they replaced the compressor did they purge the line set with nitrogen and pull a deep vaccum? This is imperative when replacing a condensing unit to ensure that no residual particles are left in the line set to create a restriction.

Hope this helps You
