Question about Video Cameras

1 Answer

I have a camcorder JVC GR-DX67EK which worked fine and suddenly as I started it up the message "Lenz Cap" came up (as it normally does). But this time, it didn't clear up as I removed the Lenz Cap. Now - with lenz cap off, I can't see anything on screen or viewer. Everything else seems to be OK, including playback: when I play the cassette, I can seen the film ok. Can you please help! AB

Look for a switch somewhere around the lens that is probably stuch triggering the OSD to display "Lens Cap". You may have to depress nthe switch with a toothpick or paperclip. Look at the lens cap for something sticking out of it. That would be the actuator. Line that up and you should then find the switch.

    Hi Bob Smart,
Thanks very much for your response. The problem with my JVC GR-DX67EK persists. Can't see any switch about the lenz at all. But I must add that the message "Lenz Cap" only flashes 5 times and disappears, with or without Lenz Cap.

Also, I have noticed that someone else on this forum has the same proble on his JVC GR-D20EK Camcorder, which he expressed as follows: " Lens Cap warning on Problem with the JVC GR-D20EK Camcorder. Lens Cap warning on display even with the lens cap off the lcd screen is black. will playback but not record".

your dv cam sensed a condensation means some moist is inside the unit, to protect the sensitive electronics on it. it disabled normal function of the dv cam. try to avoid placing the dv cam from sudden cold area to hot area, or vice-versa do not use dv cam until condensation message is gone

There are 2 possibilities for that symptoms in JVC GR-D347U camcorder is either aparture in lens mechanism is stuck and does not pass image towards CCD Imager OR ccd imager itself got bad.
Qualified camera tech can fix it because it requires expertise.
If you want to fix it, download service manual from HERE for small fee, that will help you how to disassemble/ apart camera and part info etc.
Thanks.

Lens cap on camcorder

My JVC GR-DX97 is doing the same thing. If pointed toward bright light slight image appears. Sound works fine. Stupid camcorder. I was also planning on using it Christmas morning. Doesn't make me want to run out and buy another JVC product.

Previously, when I have experienced this problem, I have removed the battery for 24 hrs and on replacement switched the Camcorder to (M) and quickly pressed the "Menu" button. This has allowed me to scroll down the menu options to the Cam Reset option. Then I reset the camera and all is well. This has worked for the last 3 to 4 occasions, however, this time I cannot get the menu to stay on long enough to reset the camera. Any ideas?

JVC GR-D90 Camcorder Lens Cap Problem

Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.
