What you're describing sounds like a broken tooth on one of the speed reduction gears.
You should be able to take the drill to an authorized Milwaukee repair facility and they should be able to repair it for you.

I am trying to remove keyless chuck from Hitachi cordless drill DS 18DVB. I am insertiung flat head screw driver into chuck, turning clockwisw but getting no bite

the screw at the base of the fully opened chuck is a left hand thread
it may be a slot but normally they are philips head or hex head undo that screw by turning as if doing it up
once it is out , hold the shaft and by placing something across the now partially open jaws a quick hit on that object with a hammer will loosen the chuck off the shaft you can place a allen key in the jaws and close them up and use that as an object to hit

When using drill part what torque setting do i use

Set it to min then, if the bit doesn't turn, increase the setting a few clicks. Repeat as necessary. The clutch is really needed if you hit a screw or nail whil drillig something soft.

How do I change the keyless chuck on a cordless drill/

Remove the REVERSE-THREAD screw at the bottom of the chuck. Set the clutch collar to the highest setting, and set the gear to the slowest setting if this drill has a 2 speed transmission. Remove the battery! I have performed this with the battery in back in my noob days, and getting an allen wrench in your rib because you accidently hit the trigger will only happen once. You will never forget that experience. Get the biggest allen wrench you can fit in the end of the chuck(the shortest leg) and tighten the chuck down around it, allowing the jaws to rest and tighten on the flats of the wrench. Lay the drill on its side(chuck toward you, handle to the left, and allen wrench to the left, horizontal to the deck. Then with a hammer(soft hammer if you care about the allen wrench) quickly and deliberately hit the allen wrench in an attempt to cause the allen wrench to spin counter clockwise. You have only a few to several attempts at this before you risk damaging the clutch, so make the first one count. Follow through like you are attempting to hit something 6" below the allen wrench. If this does not do the trick before you shell the clutch/gearbox, you are looking at an expensive undertaking, most likely a new drill. I have only shelled 2 clutches out of literally tens of thousands of chuck repairs, so don't worry, just be aware. Let me know how it goes!

I have a Black and Decker drill press and the spindle is dropping out. Is there a clip or something that should hold it in? There is a groove in the top of the spindle for something.

generally on a larger drill press the spindle is a taper fit. What you would need to do is clean the taper and the socket thoroughly with break clean or something with will air dry. Then take a block of wood and place it on the chuck with the jaws retracted and hit the piece of wood to seat the taper socket.

My drill bit doesn't remain secure in the chuck of my drill.

grind bits shank in a triangle to let the drill chuck get a better hold of bit but be carfule because this also takes away the drills ability to slip if it hits something solid.

Chuck change

After removing the screw and inserting the allen wrench shift the drill to the LOW position and turn the clutch to the drill only position. Use an allen wrench about the size of the chuck capacity so that it will not flex when hitting it with a mallet. Sometimes they are stubborn because of the torque but this should work. Put the allen wrench at about a 30deg angle and hit the wrench. I support the chuck on a workbench or a block of wood will do fine. The chuck has standard threads.

Chuck replacement

Hi Paul with the screw out you will have to lock the short end off a sturdy allen key in the jaws off the chuck then sellect first gear on the drill then with a hammer hit the long side off the allen key so that the chuck unscrews normal thread (anti clockwise) the shock off the hit will free the chuck.
Hope this helps.
Sean.
