Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Jenn-Air JBR2086HES bottom freezer, is warm in refrigerator section but freezer is OK. Refrigerator doesn't seem to be getting cold-air circulation. Freezer shows minor frost build-up. Display shows "3" for both refr and freezer. Electronic board replaced about 6 months ago due to total cooling failure in both sections.

Yeah, apparently it was the, advanced defrost control board, but this is the second time this board needed to be replaced within 6 months. The first time, the repairman mentioned that I should install a surge protector, which I did, so what would have caused the board to out again if a surge wasn't the problem?

The other problem is low voltage or a brown out condition.... not much you can do about that....problem is that they make the boards as cheap as possible and that means skimping on everything then if anything goes just a bit off the board burns up...really stinks!!

Well,, now that I know what it is, I'll just , "do it myself" next time and save myself the $400 repair bill! Thanks!

you could have a bad damper, this is located in the fridge section, all it is is a door that opens and closes to let cold air into fridge, sounds like yours is stuck open.remove the bottom kick panel and look for the tech sheet,it will tell you how to put it into diagnostics, the board will open and close,if it doesn't you know it's bad.go here and look at part number 13

Freezer seems to be ok. But refrigerator is not cold??? any simple fixes would be greatly appreciated

Somewhere in your fridge should be a fan that circulates air from the freezer section toi the fridge section. Chances are it is not running.

Jenn Air bottom freezer refrigerator not cooling properly,

This may be your compressor. You'll probably need a hard start kit put ont he compressor if it's not still under warranty. I hope this helps you out!

My Jenn Air bottom freezer refrigerator is too warm in the fresh food (upper) compartment. This just occurred today. The freezer works fine. Any ideas?

sounds like the FF(Freezer Fan) is starting to wear out. This fan problem is very hard to diagnose because the fan will still spin but not fast enough to circulate chilled air thru the freezer as well as the refrigerator.

Jenn-Air JFC2089H Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator. One month ago the water tap stopped working then I noticied that the top doors to refrigerator would not reliably close like they used to. Last...

The water could have been frozen in the door and melted when your fridge warmed up.

The lower hinge on each door may have a door closing cam. It raises the door up ¼ inch when opening and this assist in closing the door. If it’s wore out and doesn’t work the door may not seal and the gasket can be damaged. Watch the operation of the door to see if it rises up when opened.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

Side-by-side fridge is freezing food on bottom shelf

Look to the freezer section for a possible frosting on the back wall. If you have a defrost problem in the freezer and air circulation stops cold air from the freezer may settle through the return area of the duct between the refrigerator and freezer section because cold air is heavier the warm air. Normal circulation follows a clockwise pattern.
Also your setting of the refrigerator temperature may be set to cold. Once again cold air settles to the bottom.
