Sounds like it is just a cracked solder joint on the power cord receptacle, as for repairs, as long as it is only a cracked solder joint there would be no parts required to repair it just a matter of opening up the set and re-soldering the joint. at most you would have to pay for probably a minimum service charge at a repair shop (if you are mechanically inclined and have done any soldering yourself it is a very easy repair to do yourself). Good luck and God Bless.

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. Schemapic diagram for toshiba 55G300U

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.

No picture but I do have sound on a 55G300U

You might want to checked for bulged electrolytic caps on the power supply, that need changed or just replace the power supply module. Another thing that you can try, is to unplug the set from the wall for 40 Min, the video processor IC, could be locked up and that will reset it back to normal.

Toshiba 55g300u LCD, tried to upload firmware from flash drive...upload started but power was cut by mistake. now the TV will not cut back on.

I havea Sony bravia, and was explicitly told if the power is off during update I shouldlook for a authorized service. It is too complicated to fix. But watchout, it might not be "under terms of guarantee". Don't know if this applies forToshiba, but just to let you know

The problem is probably that one or both of the STK convergence chips have failed. These control the convergence coils around the red blue and green guns and are the most common cause of sudden convergence problems and the protection circuit shutting the TV down when turned on.

I can post details of how I replaced these on my Toshiba 40WH08B. Yours should be similar.

The first thing to do is eliminate the external power supply, the DC jack and the socket on the laptop that it plugs into. My experience has been that damaged jacks are far more common than damaged sockets. Usually what happens is that someone trips over the power cord and puts strain on the cable where it attaches to the jack. A quick test is to plug the DC jack into the laptop and while holding the jack still wiggle the cable where it attaches to the jack. If that doesnt do it try holding the jack and wiggling it in the laptop socket. One or the other should cause a break in the power and youll know what to get fixed or replace. If those are the usual suspects, however, if they all test out OK then let us know what the results were and we?ll pickup from there. Any additional information will be helpful such as LEDs, how long it takes to shut down and any issues that may have led up to this.
