Hi.
Yes you should get audio drivers for your system, especially if you plan on upgrading to windows 7.

I reccomend going to realtek.com...they have high definition audio drivers that are made for the windows 7 operating system.

You are going to need to get some other items if you want to transition to windows 7, though.

First, you need to get more memory, PC133 sdram, you'll need to get 3 512mb modules, as there are 2 memory slots in your system.

Next, you will want to upgrade the processor to get windows 7 to work good.

The netvista series of computers have a 400mhz front side bus, and this restricts what processors you can put in it.

I have looked around, and it appears that you can put a 3.06ghz pentium 4 into your system, as long as you can get the one with the 400 mhz fsb.

Also, you will want to get a good video card, agp preferrably, as they are the fastest video cards available.

Both ATI and NVIDIA make great cards, so either one will work.

You also may want to get a wireless internet adapter of some kind, whether it is a PCI card, or a USB plug-in device of some kind.

I'm trying to think of everything that you'll need for windows 7 to work for you.

Oh yeah, you will probably want to get a bigger hard drive, as a 40gig hard drive will be about half full after installing windows7 to it.

And, you will want to get a dvd burner, that it crucial if you want to utilize all the features of 7.

All drives must be PATA, noy SATA, as they have different connections.

Sometimes they will just be listed as ATA133, or ULTRA ATA, but they are the same thing.

I think I covered all the important items that you will need.

I hope that I helped you out today, and good luck with your upgrade !!

Find your latest drivers here:

Hi,

Try to identify your audio hardware and go to their website to download compatible driver for your audio device. For example you have a Realtek Audio device, go to www.realtek.com/downloads and look for the drivers for your device.

Check on the dell website if they have windows7 sound drivers for the optiplex280. I doubt it but if they have download and install them. If not you will have to either buy a sound card that is windows7 compatible or revert back to you provious os vista or xp

No audio in HP zd8224ea with Windows 7

Windows7 Should automatically install the drivers for your sound card so it may be due to your sound card not being compatible with windows7 or incorrect drivers have been installed
Download sound card drivers for your sound card and make sure there windows 7 compatible.
