Mornung, I have a Samsung DVD Recorder & VCR DVD # VR357. I cannot get the menu screen to come up on the TV> It was working correctly up the other night. I change the batteries in the units remote. The menu words will come up on the dvd/vcd window on the front of the unit but not on the tv. I also unplugged the unit to see it if it would re-set but nothing. I have missed placed my manual so I need you help, Please! Thank you.

The device unit?U must have DVD/VCR recorder player to record things out of cable tv or other tv signals. Not just a DVD/VCR player.Read ur manual for instruction,u hook up a VCR before right, the same principle.
it means that your tv has to be on channel 3 or 4 to use device. once your tv is on one of those channels, you should be able to program your dvd/vcr to record and check to see if there is a menu button on your controller. if it is a newer tv, try setting menu on component1, aux 1 or anything but tv..if there is a menu button on controller for dvd/vcr player select that once you see the home screen on tv...
New HD tv. Have digital cable box connected to tv., cable box connected to DVD recorder, but can't get setup menu to come up on tv screen. I had a similar problem. I have a HD tv connected to a digital cable box. I hooked up the DVD recorder with the wires it came with, but it would not play or give me the menu. However it was correctly hooked up. So the next day I connected a HDMI wire from the DVD recorder to the tv and everything works now.
make sure that av 1 out on the dvd go into av1 in on the screen and av2out goes to av2in onto the screen.make sure the cable is not loose.press av on the tv remote till you find it. same with the vcr remote
I don't know a whole lot about electronic equipment, but I've never seen anything connected in so many ways at the same time. Maybe the antenna and one other type of connection. The different signals from all the connections are probably confusing each other. I would try one connection at a time to see if the problem improves. Good Luck. Dawn
