If you divide a number into 18 sections and each section is made up of 34 pieces you need to multiply 34 by 18.

So just work out what 34 X 18 is.

To find the reciprocal of a number, you put 1 divided by the number. In this case, it would be 1 divided by 34.

First make 1 2/3 into a mixed fraction and then divide it by 3.

To make 1 2/3 into a mixed fraction, multiply the whole number, in this case, 1, by the denominator (the bottom number) and then add the numerator (the top number). Thus, we get (1*3+2)/3 or 5/3. Now we have to take 5/3 and divide it by 3. I was taught that in this case, dividing by 3 is the same as multiplying by 1/3. 5/3 x 1/3 = 5/9.

If you have access to a calculator you can always check this. On the calculator, do 2 divided by 3 and add 1. Now take that answer and divide by 3. Write down this answer. Now take 5 and divide by 9. Write down this answer. They should be the same.

Good luck.

Find the lowest number the 9 and 6 will divide into (the lowest common denominator). In this case, it is 18 (9X2 and 6X3). Therefore 2/9 + 2/6 = 4/18 + 6/18 which totals 10/18---which, if both numbers are divided by 2, also equals 5/9.

x divided by 9 and 9 divided by 9 equals 4, so x divided by 9 equals half of 4 or 2. 2 times 9 equals 18, so x equals 18.

To check, 18 divided by 9 equals 2. 2 and 2 equals 4.

To check, 18 divided by 9 equals 2. 2 and 2 equals 4.

To divide fractions proceed as you usually do with any number. Just make sure to enclose each fraction in parentheses. You may want to remember a simple rule: **To divide a fraction by another, multiply the first one by the reciprocal of the other:**

*(a/b)/(c/d)=(ad/bc)*

One trick I use is to add up all the digits and divide by 3. If the answer is even, (a multiple of 3), it's not a prime number.

57 = 5+7=12. 12 divides by 3 evenly (4), is not a prime.

59 = 5+9=14. 14 does not divide by 3 evenly, therefore prime.

999 = 9+9+9=27 divide by 3 = 9, not prime

997 = 9+9+7=25 divide by 3=8.3 not even and is prime

57 = 5+7=12. 12 divides by 3 evenly (4), is not a prime.

59 = 5+9=14. 14 does not divide by 3 evenly, therefore prime.

999 = 9+9+9=27 divide by 3 = 9, not prime

997 = 9+9+7=25 divide by 3=8.3 not even and is prime

I don't think there's specific key for this but you can do it this way:

I hope this helps :)

- Divide those 2 numbers for which you want to find gcf
- If you get result as decimal number press keys [2nd][PRB] to display it as fraction
- Also if fraction you get is in form a b/c (ex. 1 2/3) you have to convert it to form d/c (for 1 2/3 that would be 5/3)
- Greatest common factor is then 1st number divided by numerator (or 2nd number divided by denominator)

- You want to find greatest common factor of 30 and 18.
- You divide them: you should get 5/3 (after converting result to fraction of form d/c, as described in steps 2 and 3).
- This means that 30/18=5/3=5x/3x (x is gcf here).
- Now you know that x=30/5=18/3=6 so greatest common factor is 6.

I hope this helps :)

Proper fraction e.g. 3/5, input 3, divide, 5, =, answer 0.6

Improper fraction, either enter as improper fraction, or enter the whole number first, then +, then the proper fraction as before, then =.

E.g. 8/5 which is "1 and 3/5': enter 1, +, 3, "divide", 5 =, answer is 1.6

Or, just 8, "divide", 5, same 1.6 answer. Why go to mixed number first?

13/5 which is "2 and 3/5", enter 2, +, 3, "divide", 5, =, answer is 2.6. Or, just 13/5, same answer
