Just saw your response to someone else. I also dropped my Simple Drive external drive. The blue light comes on when I first turn on the external drive. Then the light goes off. I hear something spinning around but my laptop does not recognize this external drive.
I plan on taking it to Best Buy this morning.
What are the chances that my files (mostly pictures and scrapbook pages) can be saved?

ive had to open the enclosure and recover the files with success many times due to bad usb to ide card in enclosure.

i got him a new 2.5' hdd enclosure and new laptop hdd with 5 yr warr seagate.
