FTP clients are typically HIPPA compliant. HIPPA requires that FTP clients be HIPPA compliant through SSL, TLS or SSH/SFTP with at least a 128-bit secure connection. Filezilla supports FTP over SSL/TLS (FTPS) and SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP). In other words you are OK to use Filezilla.

How to set up a FTP server in Windows 7

You can use MS products (FTP Service and IIS Management Console) or a third party software (FileZilla.)
To use MS, you have to enable FTP under "Add Features" in Programs and IIS service.
Then you have to configure IIS:
  1. Run Administrative Tools -> Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
  2. Expand the local machine
  3. Right-click "Sites" and add "FTP Site"
  4. Call it "Default FTP Site" and create the path like "C:\inetpub\ftproot"
  5. click "Next"
  6. Enable Start FTP site automatically, select Allow SSL
  7. click "Next"
  8. Enable Anonymous Authentication
  9. click "Finish"

Ftp protocol work out of 21 port

Hello John! It may be because your ISP firewall is detecting FTP protocols activity and it blocks it (doesn't matter the port number). Anyway, maybe you can try to use FTPS, a secure extension for this protocol. That way the connection will be encrypted and (maybe) your ISP wont flag it

I access my school email account and try to download PDF files and a message comes up that there are fcp protocol not associated with the files. Hence I can not read the files. What do I do?

You need to have a PDF reader installed if you don't already. You can use Adobe Reader from:
http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Or my favorite is Foxit Reader from:
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/

But the error message you are getting, maybe it refers to FTP. For File Transfer Protocol, an easy to use program is FileZilla. You can get that here:
http://filezilla-project.org/download.php

Good luck!

I would check the FileZilla FTP Settings to make sure the "Passive FTP" is not enabled.

In "FileZilla" it's under "Edit", "Settings", "Connection", "FTP". Change from "Passive" to "Active".

Hope this resolves your issue

Sagem d box

Before you try anything - make sure you understand how to do the following:

1. Use a network cable (RJ45)
2. Use an FTP program (FlashXp or Filezilla etc)

do you know if you're using a 1 chip or 2 chip Sagem (1chip is most likely but you 'must' know before attempting anything.

The answer is to either re-flash the unit with an image (a software program) which has the auto updating ROM7/10/11 keys included.

You can use the FTP program (assuming you know the IP address of your system and that of the DBOX) - and manually copy the freely available ROM7/10/11 files from your PC into var/var_init/keys etc

If most of the above is double dutch - then get a mate to do it - you can easily be left with a box which doesn't start up and has the infamous 'KEIN System' on the display.
