Question about Whirlpool 25.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with In-Door-Ice Dispensing System

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool Side by side Model ed25uexhw01 Serial sk4354373 Refrigerator. A thin sheet of Ice forms in the bottom of the freeze side about every other day or so. I can lift it out very easy and throw it away and it comes back again. It looks like a vent of some sort is in the back wall and ice seems to be at the bottom of the vent. The icemaker is not leaking. It seems to be working OK. The drinking water unit in the front seems to be OK also.

SOURCE: Hollow ice cubes and refrigerator freezer drip pan is freezing

The drain at the bottom of the evaporator on the freezer rear wall is blocked up. Ice may have gotten so far up the side of the evaporator that it is blocking a return air duct which is located there. You need to completely deice the freezer and then **** out and purge the drain hole on the bottom of the evapotrator with hot water and a turkey baster.

SOURCE: ice maker flooded top freezer compartment

It may be just the water control valve on back of refrigerator. Put tap water in ice maker and lower lever for on. After ice is made, does it drop to tray? At this time when empty is the time the control valve is asked for water. The problem could be in valve on back or the inside ice maker itself. If you can try a few test with me I will help you locate the problem. Let me know what you find as I go through this with you. Sea Breeze

SOURCE: water leaking from icemaker on outside

If this is your water dispenser leaking
Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

Ice forming inside freezer

If the water is showing on the freezer side, more than likely you have a clogged drain. This occurs when the machine goes into defrost and the melted ice somehow is prevented from draining and therefor refreezing and blocking the drain for the next defrost cycle. The best way to resolve this is to unplug the machine for atleast 24-48 hours to let all ice melt. Also note on the maytags these days they put a rubber piece called a duck bill on the bottom half of the drain which will also cause this over time. To access this piece you'll have to pull the machine from the wall and remove the lower panel and find the plastic drain and remove the duck bill

Roper # RS25AGXNQ00 the freezer side too cold around -22+ and the fridge side 51+ also found ice forming inside the air diffuser. Any suggestions?. Thanks

Make sure the settings are on the recommended setting, If so check to see if the freezer bottom is frozen over with sheet ice, if it is than you either have a leek in the ice maker or a clogged defrost drain line. The excess ice obstructs the air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator making the freezer to cold and the refrigerator not.

A sheet of ice has formed on the bottom of the freezer. Why.

There is a drain port in the behind the freezer panel where all of the water drains when your evaporator coils defrost. It has gotten clogged with food, or ice. Thaw all of the ice and unplug the drain hole, and ice will stop forming on the bottom of your freezer.
