Question about Braun FlavorSelect KF 180 Coffee Maker

1 Answer

My KF 180, Type 3115 Braun Coffee Maker stopped working, no heat, no purking but red light is on. I'm trying to open the bottom cover, have removed the centre screw but still can't get past the clips. I suspect a burnt out element. How can I open it? Thanks, George.

I have the same problem and even though I was able to disassemble the unit + get to the heating element, I fear I won't ever find a replacement part. Element is def bad; checked w/ohm meter across element - OPEN.
Like everything else we buy, coffee makers are throwaways when they fail so no one sells repair parts.
SAD!

Sounds like it could be a bad heating element, you could try to find a replacement but it would be pretty pie in the sky.

This is the cheapest replacement that I could find.

Sounds like there an issue with the heating element. When the element goes bad it wont pull any water from the tank nor will it heat the water sending it up through the shower head and onto the beans. Unfortunately, since Braun has discontinued ALL kitchen appliances here in the US many of the parts are obsolete including the heating element for this machine.

Braun coffee maker starts brewing, then stops after a few seconds

ijustam1

I have the same machine, Braun KF180 12 Cup Coffee Maker. In normal operation the brew cycle is stopped when the water reservoir is empty. The only way the coffee maker knows if that is true is when the water-brewing heater gets too hot. Your brewing heater is probably encrusted with calcium deposits if you have been heavily using the coffee maker. Vinegar will work but it is weak and you will have to cycle this solution through many many times. You should instead use "Lime Away" or "CLR" and let it sit there in a brew cycle or multiple brew cycles for a while. NOTE: Remove the filter when cleaning this way and when the brew cycle is complete, rinse thoroughly -- your taste buds will let you know if the machine is not rinsed thoroughly. -- Good Luck!!

to prgram the automatic operation, press the automatic buton until the green pilot light begins to flash. The time "12:00" or the previously programmed time appears on the display. When the green pilot light begins to flash, release the button and press the hour and minute buttons until the correct shows; ensure the hours are am or pm. After programming is completed, the green pilot light will go off after 5 seconds.
