sorry , the only thing it will do is fill on those cycles, the timer is moving. The delicate cycle works fine. I ran water only through all the cycles it worked as soon as I put items in the regular and perm press cycles would only fill . I turned timer to delicate rinse it would drain and complete that cycle. The timer advances in all the cycles.

Hi

If you have already checked part#7 water inlet valve (in this diagram) and it is fine then the issue is with part#13 water level switch (in this diagram) that should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Just need clarification on some things....
You are stating that the unit will only fill on regular cycle and perm.press cycle as in that is all it will do?
Or thoses are the only cycles that it fills on.

Will timer advance in the two cycles that you are saying only fill?
    Try both cycles....
If the timer is advancing in the above mentioned cycles....will the machine drain?

    This is a strange one....

May be looking at two seperate issues.

can you use a volt meter?

If yes you will need to check timer to motor

here is a link to your washers wiring schemnatic

    Click on the link http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir...

Ensure you are getting 120v in all cycles to motor....if not it will be a timer issue....(I'm leaning this way) if you are ....maybe motor windings....but I seriously doubt it.

    Please post results

Change the price on maytag top loading washer

Price change for a model MAT12.
Remove the access plate above the coin acceptor with a key. The display should show code 6 and two numbers. Code 6 is the regular cycle and the number of coins required to start. Press the perm press button to advance the number of coins. 06 equals 6 quarters, 08 equals 8 quarters, etc.
Reinstall the access door when finished.

Explanation of Wash Cycles

Sorry but you only have the one speed on this particular brand. Perm and short are just less time. The best thing to do is always use large water setting and less delicates in the load on a short cycle to compensate for the speed and protect your delicate fabrics.

Your timer is bad on that cycle. It is okay to use on regular cycle, but I would not use it on the delicate cycle, or will you burn up your timer. You should be home when using this, so if it does act up you can catch it.

Open the control panel. Unplug the timer and then plug it back in good and firm.
If it does not work correctly after that,
Replace your timer.

it sounds like your water inlet valve is bad, change it,also try your washer on another water level like small load or med load and see if it cuts off,it might also be your water level switch, hope this helps,thanks-mike
