Question about Xerox Phaser 6110 Laser Printer

Hi, my Xerox phaser 6110 is installed on a Windows XP computer and i'm trying to share it with another Windows 7 computer on the same network. Unfortunately, the drivers i downloaded for windows 7 will not install on the computer for some reason. it doesn't even give a reason, it just says that the driver couldn't be installed and asks me if i want to print a test page, which surely fails if i try it. any help is appreciated. thank you

Hello,
follow this simple steps:

  1. Share you printer
  2. Go to your Win 7 PC
  3. Find your Win XP PC on network
  4. Click to see shared devices
  5. Right click on Xerox 6110 icon and then click "Conect"

    hi,
    thanks for the reply. when i click on "connect" (to the shared xerox printer) i get an error message "no drivers are installed for this device". the problem is when i try to install the drivers on the windows 7 computer i get a general error message "cannot install drivers".

    Check your Win 7 account, maybe you dont have permissions to do that...and after this try to download and install drivers for Win7 from Xerox website (last updates)

Try using the Vista driver, it may work and may not have all the functions that was available under Vista.

You can download the installation drivers from manufacturer's site by clicking this link
  • On the page which opens, select the operating system of your computer (Windows Xp/ Vista..) and click on the "Go" button. Then download the required drivers.

I can not install this printer in windows7 operating system


Hello.
Unfortunately, Xerox doesn't yet offer Windows 7 support for your device. However, they announced a release of the Windows 7 driver until June 2010.
Still, you can try installing the Windows Server 2008 driver:

Now ... are you sure your device is not 6110MFP? Because Xerox Phaser 6110MFP does have Windows 7 support and you can download the driver here:

You need to try to restore you windows first and then look at the drivers problem. Restore windows and unistall any software from Xerox. Make sure all is working fine. Download the printer package from Xerox and try adding the printer manually

Not printing


Hi ,
There may be several causes for this problem.
I will tell you one by one, and you try it.

CAUSE: 1
The printer is not
receiving power.
SOLUTION:1
Check the power cord connections.
Check the power switch and the
power source.

CAUSE:2
The printer is not
selected as the
default printer.
SOLUTION:2
Select Xerox Phaser 6110
Series as your default printer.

CAUSE:3
Check the printer for
the following:
• The printer cover is
not closed.
• Paper is jammed.
• No paper is loaded.
• A toner cartridge is
not installed.
SOLUTION:3
After locating the problem, clear it.
If a printer system error occurs,
contact your service representative.
• Close the printer cover.
• Clear the paper jam.
• Load paper.
• Install the toner cartridge.


CAUSE:4
The printer may be in
manual feed mode
and out of paper.
SOLUTION:4
Check the message on the Status
Monitor program window, add paper
to the tray and press the
button on the control panel.



CAUSE:5
The connection cable
between the
computer and the
printer is not
connected properly.
SOLUTION:5
Disconnect the printer cable and
reconnect it.




CAUSE:6
The connection cable
between the
computer and the
printer is defective.
SOLUTION:6
If possible, attach the cable to
another computer that is working
properly and try to print a
document. You can also try using a
different printer cable.




CAUSE:7
The port setting is
incorrect.
SOLUTION:7
Check the Windows printer setting
to make sure that the print job is
sent to the correct port. If the
computer has more than one port,
make sure that the printer is
attached to the correct one.






CAUSE:8
The printer may be
configured
incorrectly.
SOLUTION:8
Check the printer properties to
ensure that all of the print settings
are correct.

Assuming this is a Lexmark printer, here is the link to download your drivers. Select the country if asked, and select the appropriate operating system (Windows XP or Windows Vista) and download the driver to your computer.
