1 Answer

My dell 2600 appears to be stuck in power save mode, the power indicator is amber and flicking on and off. I spoke with Dell and they told me it would cost more to have them repair it that it would cost to by a new one. Any one got any idea of how I might fix this problem?

Take the back off - look at the Power Supply and check to see if any electrolytic capacitors are bulging. You normally see this at the very tops of the components. If this is the case - it costs nothing to repair it only the price of cheap electrolytic capacitors - as long as your capable of replacing them your self! If you have no idea on Electronics - don't atemp it as it can be dangerous as many components can hold a charge long after the TV has been switched off and you can get a shock

Will a dell tft turn on with no source

Your monitor should turn on without a source and display the floating 'Dell - self-test Feature Check' message. If it does not, verify the power LED is on "GREEN" and indicating either power on / diagnostics mode or "Amber" power saving mode. If neither indication you have power problems. If these symptoms do not apply, shine a light on the sceen and see if there is a faint image. If this is true, you have backlight problems.

I have a Dell Dimension E521. When I cut the power on everything comes on including the monitor, but the monitor will stay black. It does say something about power save hit any button but the screen

A solid green light means the computer is operating normally.

A solid yellow light indicates the power supply is operating normally but the computer is not processing data.

This could mean there is a problem with the CPu or another component on the motherboard.

((A blinking yellow light indicates the power supply is receiving power from the wall, but not functioning properly.
This generally means the power supply itself is bad and should be tested or replaced.))

A blinking green light means the computer is in standby mode.

You should consider visiting Dell Support and downloading the manual for your

your Dell computer. So use the LED power light codes if your Dell computer has them.

hope this helps

Orange amber showing on the power button of dell optiplex 320

An amber led is indicative that your machine is stuck in either stand by or hibernation mode. If you're unable to boot up at all, the easiest way to clear it is to

  1. Unplug the machine
  2. open the machine, remove the CMOS battery for several minutes
  3. while unplugged and with CMOS battery out, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds
  4. re-insert the CMOS battery
  5. re-assemble the machine and plug in
  6. press power button and allow machine to run diagnostics
At this point it will try to run in SAFE mode. Once it boots up successfully, you should be good to go.
Best of luck!

I have a Dell Optiplex 210L when i push the power button a solid amber light appear.. thanks any suggestion

Click here to visit dell support. The documentation provides details about the light codes and diagnostic procedure.

I think it is a power issue, which is usually indicated by amber light on dell systems. I came accross dell systems with similar indication and the issue was improper voltage either due to faulty power supply or bad connection.
Therefore, i suggest that: -
First, make sure that the connections and voltage to your system is proper.
Also, get the power sully unit checked by a professional for its proper functioning. I may require repair or replacement.

Let me know if any further clarification is required. Hope this helps!

Hi - our dell dimension c521 is stuck in power save mode. The light on the monitor is solid orange and will not respond to the keyboard or mouse

A solid amber light indicates a pre-POST failure has occurred. The system has received a Power Good signal from the power supply so it's not a power supply issue. HERE is the documentation that tells what the lights mean and possible solutions.

My Dell 8200 Desktop just stopped working. It turns on but doesn't boot; nothing appears on the screen. I was told this is the motherboard. Does that sound right?

two things
  1. What does the power LED on the tower indicate? Solid Amber? Flashing Amber? Solid Green?
  2. On the back of the Tower are 4 diagnostic LEDs, what do they indicate? Normally they flash thru several sequences and stop ABCD all Green. If the stop in another pattern, post the pattern.

Ihave no amber power light only a flashing green

sounds to me like it isn't receiving a signal and stuck in power saving mode, i would recommend trying another computer that you know is outputting a signal and go from there. if that doesn't work then my guess is its broken.

Dell 1702FP 17" shows nothing after Radeon HD 2600 put in.

Is the card plugged into the (PCI/AGP) slot correctly? Did you disable the onboard video in the bios? Also be sure to check in windows device manager and check for the graphics card to appear there.

Power light

Are you referring to to Power LED or the System Status Indicator cause what I can remember from that particular model Dell server thst system status indicator was blue! Use this page to help identify what exactly is showing up as orange(or amber)! http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pe2600/en/sm/beep.htm#1057698 If it is the system status you'll need to go over the other indicators to troubleshoot what exactly is causing the problem! regards, babb
