Most email services use passwords to protect the privacy of users. If you have forgotten your password you need to contact the provider of your email.

I am a BT customer.I am having problems getting my e-mails in. My a/c seems to be blocked. It keeps asking me for my password, but then does not accept it

Mail application like the built in Mail app usually keep asking for password of a particular e-mail account when the stored password does not match with the actual password of the e-mail account. This usually happens when the password has been changed. Try changing your password using the E-mail provider's website and then input the new password in your Mail application.

When accessing my g mail account via outlook express The account comes up without asking for a password. How can I ensure that it does require a password ??

Of course it does. When you add the gmail account to your Outlook program you go through a lengthy configuration of email address, incoming mail server, outgoing mail server and so on. At some point there is the option to test the account setting and if you click to test you are asked to provide the password for your gmail account. Supply the password there and if the testing is positive you will not be asked again for it.
Without you password to your gmail account, Outlook will not be able to log on to the server and retrieve your mail.

There might be an invalid configuration on your windows mail that's it keeps on asking for username and password. I suggest you have to reconfigure the account settings. My yahoo e-mail is locked ,I don't forget my passward or my ID , but someone said to me that he will punish me and will close my yahoo e-mail

If your email id and password not shared with anybody no need to panic. Keep change your password. Don't use your name / phone number / vehicle number etc. as your password. since it is easy to assess anybody. Also don't enable the option " remember me in this system" / " auto login" in any public computer / office computer. If you get any mail ids feels like it may be from any important officials asking for your mail id details don't give. Even Yahoo won't ask your password.
