Is the drive you are using a DVD writer or only a DVD reader? The drive that writes to RW disks is labeled DVD/RW or DVD Recordable.
These are the only drive types that will read and write a DVD/RW disc.

Can I copy a CD R To aDVD R , I have still photos from recent wedding, burned to CDR,but will not play on DVD player on TV, can I copy this CDR to A DVDR disk

It's not enough to merely copy to a DVD. You need to create a Video CD or DVD video to make them playable on your DVD player. Nero and other video authoring software should have this option.

How do I burn/copy a DVD

you have to rip the dvd using software like DVDRipper. Then you can burn the resulting file to a 4.5 GB DVD. Usually the movie will be around 7.5 GB and the ripper reduces the size to fit that.

HOW DO I COPY A DVD TO MY ACER 6920G LAPTOP THEN BURN IT TO BLANK DVD. HAS A BLUERAY READER/REGULAR BURNER AND FROM WHAT I CAN SEE, HAS SOFTWARE THAT BURNS TO DVD FROM LAPTOP BUT NOT DVD TO LAPTOP

You can use a DVD copy program like Nero if there is one on your computer.

Nero checks to make sure that you DVD isn't copy protected before it copies it. If it is you won't be able to copy it.

Windows XP or Vista does't provide DVD copy software built into Windows.

I have tried to burn dvd from movies that I have bured

if you are trying to burn movies that you have previously burned ,all you need to do is, use the copy function in you burning software ,ie
copy from dvd drive "D" to dvd drive "E" , or if you only have one drive
copy from dvd drive "D" to "D" and the program will tell you when to replace the dvd disc with a blank one,so it can write to it.
replace the drive letter in quotation marks with your actual drive letter,

note: quotation marks are not used.

good luck & please rate my efforts
