OK, you should have at least 2 cables on your monitor. One is the power supply cable, the other is either a VGA or DVI cable.
The power supply cable goes to an outlet on one end (you know what those look like, right?) and on the monitor on the other end. There's only one place you can plug a power supply cable on the monitor.
The VGA (or DVI if you're using that) cable has pins on both ends. The VGA cable has a 15-pin D-sub connector on both ends, while the DVI cable has a different, bigger type of connector with pins. Again, these plug on only one place on the monitor itself, while on the other end you have to plug them on your computer's VGA (or DVI) output. Look in the back of your computer for an appropriate plug, there's only one way to plug them (you can plug them upside-down).
If you're using DVI, you might see more than one available outputs behind your computer side by side. Anyone of those will do...

If your wires are unhooked, Usually new monitors wires are colour coded , for example, blue to blue, yellow to yellow etc.
If your wires are not colour coded, There is only one way the wires can go, They won't fit just anywhere. If they fit into one connector, then that will be where it needs to go.

Hope this helps

How do I unhook the back of the monitor?

Disconnect the Power Cord by pulling it firmly straight back or down depending on the monitor. Loosen the two screws on the video cable and pull the cable off.

Reseat chip my chime on seatbelts wont stop

Check under your seat and see if the plug, somehow, got unpluged.
Sometimes when you shove something under your seat, the monitor wire becomes dislodged from the seat belt.

The monitor starts up and goes into sleep mode

After repairing the on/off button for $100.00 and then rehooking up the monitor to my pc, the monitor has power but stays asleep even when I push in the menu button, I can't get anything to happen. HP techs tell me that the problem is with my computer although it worked perfectly fine before I unhooked all to send out the monitor.

I hooked all back up again as before but now the monitor will only say "monitor going to sleep" and nothing happens.

Wishing I had a solution. Thanks

Hi,

You can try removing external devices like (ex. usb printer, external Hard drive) and try to start the computer again. And see if there are lights on the tower

After unhooking Dell monitor, can't get it to work again.

hELLO THERE:
You shouldnt have to hook both of them up.
turn off the computer and monitor unplug. the power cord to the power supply. leave the monitor hooked to the computer
remove the side panel on the left side of the computer.
look and find the wiring harness from the powersupply to the motherboard and remove it now press the power button on the computer for 1 minute this releasess any (esd) or Electronic Static Discharge. that may have built up over time.
wait for 3 minutes
during this time this will be a good time to blow out any dirt or debris that may be in the inside of the computere
now reinstall the wire harness back to the motherboard and connect everything back up and turn on the computer and then the monitor and see what happnes you should be ok after this ok?
let me know how this goes ok and please dont forget to rate the solutions that i have provided for you
best regards michael

You might need to go into the monitor's setup menu and select the digital input. (That's DVI, by the way, for Digital Video Input, and not DV1.) Some monitors automatically detect the input but not all of them. Obviously, this doesn't apply if the Samsung has only a DVI input. It might also be necessary to tell the video card to turn on the DVI output. You can do this with your old AOC connected and use the video setting utility supplied with the video card.

The wires in my honeywell thermostat are unhooked

You can do this yourself it is easy. Take the White wire and connect it to the R terminal then take the Blue and connect it to the Y terminal. For some reason he disconnected the Red which is power I don't know why he would do that and leave you just hanging. ken
