My tensioner is not aligned with my pulleys after I replaced the belt. How can I fix this. My belt is touching metal

Good morning Sasha: I don't know the year make and model but possibly you got a bad tensioner, the spring in the tensioner wears out and when you took the belt off to change it and released it it probably moved over, there is a back plate on the tensioner with a bolt that runs through the center of the whole tensioner there should be a little gap all the way around look at that gap and see if its the same gap all the way around. I don't know if that made sense for you but I am betting on the tensioner. Good luck

How do I change a serpentine belt on a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis

Start by drawing a diagram of the pulleys, and how the belt runs around them.(GM has sticker under the hood with a diagram, but I don't think anyone else does this). You need to find the tensioner, and use something to relieve the belt tension to allow belt removal.(some engines, especially on roomy rear wheel drive cars, may allow you to use an ordinary ratchet or a breaker bar to rotate the tensioner).

Is there a diagram of how to run the belt on the tensioner, have new belt around drum already. Don't know what it is suppose to look like. Thanks Dave Ball at (the.49er.miner@gmail.com)

Man Im not sure if this info will help you but. On my dryer which is pretty much the old style, standard type dryer and I had to replace the belt and had a little trouble putting it on the tensioner, finally figured it out.. If you take the belt and pinch it together and pull under the belt tensioner and then around the moter shaft that's what you do for the dryer style I have.. HOPE this may HELP!!

How can i fit engine belt of hyundai azera 2009

  • Find the tensioner. The serpentine belt tensioner is what holds the belt in place with the correct tension: it is held to the engine by two bolts. Some describe the Hyundai Sonata tensioner pulley as attached to a teardrop shape, with the bolts holding the structure to the engine.
  • 2 Remove the two bolts near the tensioner with your wrench (bolt size may vary by model). Take off the tensioner and the belt.
  • 3 Use a belt routing diagram or your own sketches to replace the serpentine belt. This is helpful for some models: from the power steering pump, the belt goes to the left of the idler pulley, then over and around the right side of the air conditioner compressor pulley, around the left side of the crank pulley, to the right of the tensioner pulley, and down to the alternator.
  • 4 Replace the tensioner and the new belt together. Mechanics recommend seating the belt on the tensioner before replacing the tensioner onto the engine rather than trying to pry the belt over the pulley.
  • 5 Tighten the two lock bolts that hold the tensioner.
  • 6 Check to see that the belt is seated correctly on all of the pulleys. Run the engine and observe to check for proper installation.

My 06 gmc envoy makes a squeking noise like belts do but my belts look fine and there prety well tight could it be any of my pilleys

check ytour idler pulley, that keeps tension on your belts. they usually go after a certain amount of miles from the stress on the
    bearings.

    Can't get serpertine belt on

if you know routing around pulleys the belt tensioner pulley should have a square hole or bolt head to place a ratchet pull tensioner to let belt fit around pulleys when in place release tensioner presser will hold belt in place with motor running look for correct tracking and alignment of belt around pulleys

I have a GE Dryer Serial #GL228541G Model DD25310 BAC WH. I am trying to replace the belt around the drum. I tried hooking the belt around the hooks to tighten the belt, but the drum is not turning.

Does the motor run? The path of the belt is a little tricky. You have to push a loop of the belt around the belt tightener and then over the motor pulley. The top of the belt loop will ride against either a rolling wheel, or a plastic guide made out of low friction plastic. The bottom of the loop of belt should only go over to the drum. The tensioner is held in place by a tab that fits into the bottom pan of the dryer.

    AC BELT NEEDS CHANGED

You have to remove the main serpentine belt first. this is done with a 15mm wrench put on the tensioner. then from the bottom you can get to the a/c belt tensioner. install a 3/8 ratchet on it and remove tension from belt. I find the only way to get belt on and off is too slip it off the tensioner then off the backside of crank pulley then slide off of a/c compressor then install new belt onto the crank letting it fall off the backside run belt around compressor tensioner then work around crank pulley

    Fixing a gas dryer belt

That I believe is an older model GE with the idler bar instead of the short bar. I believe there is also a rear panel that you can remove to gain access to it. I dont remember for sure if it keeps tension up or down. Loop your belt around the motor pully, then find out which way it keeps tension on the belt, then loop the belt around the idler pully and release so that it keep tension on the belt itself. Let me know if you need further information.
