How do I fix my TI-84 Plus Silver Edition if none of the buttons will work?

Will the calculator turn on at all? If not, check the batteries first. There is a little coin battery that stores memory for the device behind where the regular batteries sit. This does not often fail, but could cause the thing to not power up. Note: removing the coin battery will clear any information stored on your calculator.

If the device is stuck in an infinite loop, or is unresponsive with the busy icon, try pressing and holding the "2nd", left, right and "on" buttons in that order and holding them all at the same time. This is the command to cancel whatever process the device is working and clear the internal memory (At least on the TI-89. I'm not 100% sure the command works on an 84).

How do I get rid of the border on the screen of the TI 84?

First try the screen formatting (2nd, zoom) and reset the axis (select the option turn them off and then turn them back on again)

If that doesn't work try clearing out the memory (2nd, "+", "7", "1", "2")
Unfortunately this will erase everything on the calculator

My ti-84 plus it does not respond to the function + or - OR other function, & it come up to display very slow ,slow. thanks

Hi xvbanh,

You need to free up some memory. Try clearing your RAM. Your calculator should operate properly afterward.

Go to [2nd] [MEM] [7] [1] [2]

If your calculator still won't let you delete the RAM memory try the procedure below.

Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [CLEAR] key. While holding [CLEAR],
reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display the
message "RAM Cleared". Release the [CLEAR] key and then press it one more time to remove the message.

I press the on button and it says TI-84nPlus 2.40 RAM cleared. When I click it lags and takes forever. I have already taken the batteries out and tried to solve it that way but nothing works. PLEASE HELP

Hi,

First, turn it on. Once the calculator is on, press the "2ND" key (I believe it is a blue key in the ti-84 plus silver edition). Now press the plus key (+). A little above that key, you should see the word "mem." When you see the screen titled MEMORY, move the cursor all the way down to the option that says "Reset." From here, you can choose to reset either the RAM memory, or the factory settings. The factory settings are the "Defaults" option. I hope this helps.

Thanks for using FIXYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

When I go to clear the memory and hit 2nd Mem.. I get nothing. The calculator seems to be locked so i cannot clear the memory

Hi,
As the first step to you diagnosis remove the Main batteries out of the calculator and leave them out for a while. The memory should be cleared.
If that does not restore your calculator you may have to use the procedures suggested by TI for calculators that do not turn on.

Hope it helps.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Ti-84 plus silver edition will not graph

try going into the memory men (2ND - +), and selecting option 2.  Delete some stuff you know you don't need.  If the problem persists, 2ND - +, this time option 7.  Reset the defaults.  You won't lose anything, it will just reset the settings that may be causing this issue.

CANNOT ACCESS MEMORY ON TI-84

Yes i know exactly what that is. This happens when you are in mirage OS and you set that option. What you need to do is take out the batteries when its on or go to mode and press alpha and s (LN) and then it should ask for self check say yes and press enter for like ever. I prefer to take out the batteries Then quickly go to memory and delete the avtar. It should do the trick.
