With a electric hair dryer, try warming up the cap. This should cause it to swell just enough to allow less tension on the threads for you to remove the cap counter-clockwise.

Tasco windage knob spinning

Try pulling up on it to engage the mechanism. Some scopes do this to prevent unintended changes.

Which knob you adjust for drop? What is the left knob for?

If you have 2 knobs, there should be no left knob. If you have a knob on the left, you have it mounted 90 degrees out of alignment. Loosen the rings and turn it 90 degrees clockwise. Once you do that, the knob on the top is the one you will use for elevation.

If you have 3 knobs, the left one is for parallax adjustment, focuses the scope for specific ranges. the top knob is the elevation adjustment in this case also.

Cannot get to the bull's eye. rifle shoots 2" to right of bull's eye. after two full turns left on windage - nothing happened. I',m ready to return to the store. Any help???

continue to adjust the wind-age. If your problem persists I would suggest turning both to a random point and re-start sighting the gun. If that does not fix the problem return the sight because this most likely means the wind-age is disconnected.

What are the adjustment knobs on the windage position for? Is it to adjust sighting or to focus the scope? Why are they not covered like most scopes are

The adj knobs on there are for windage on the right and elevation on the top, if they are not covered, they are turret knobs for target shooting, not for hunting. The focus knob is the rear lens, it spins in and out to fit your eyesight. It usually focus on the crosshairs and the distance for most shooters, some will not be able to get it right because of their eyes. 98% will. Hope this helps.

I am turning the knobs on my scope to adjust it because it is shooting low and left. The knobs aren;t working it seems, because my problem isn;t going away. What is wrong with my scope?

O.K work slow, tap on the scope with a med-small screw driver handle -- JUST TAP IT, do not bang on it, easy tap easy tap with every adjustment, work slow, move opposites. .

Balancing a 70mm refractor tube

Looking at pictures I found on the web, I see a knob on the bottom that tightens the scope to the dovetail bracket on the bottom of the scope. First attach all of your eyepiece then loosen that knob and slide the scope back or forth until it will balance without tightening the knob. Or if you do not have the manual you can download it for free here.

Inoperative focus control

I'm assuming this is the Maksukov-Cassegrain telescope. Turning the focus knob CW should get you focus at infinity by moving the primary mirror away from the eyepiece. As you turn the knob it should move in and out relative to the real of the scope. If that's not happening the focus screw may have been turned CW too far and no longer be catching the threads in the rear plate of the scope.

You may be able to get it to rethread by holding the front of the scope toward the ceiling and turning the knob CCW. Attached is a photo of what the scope looks like under the rear housing. To prevent the focuer shaft from turning in too far the knob should be firmly seated agains the rear of the shaft. I think on this model this is a friction fit.
