Question about Sony Computers & Internet

I left my computer and when I came back it was off and the battery was plugged in the outlet. I restarted it and it worked for a minute or two and then closed again. When I pressed the power button again, it didn't start!

It sounds like the battery has depleted. If you had it on the outlet however, that shouldn't happen. Make sure that it's correctly plugged in, maybe try another outlet as well.
It's worth trying removing the battery altogether and see if it can power-up from the power supply only. If all fails, you may have a faulty power supply (which can be replaced).

It might be possible that your power adapter died. But before reaching this conclusion remove your adapter from the outlet and the laptop. Examine for any broken connections and if none, try plugging it back in. Also try using your adapter on a different outlet.
Hope this helps.

Lap top won't come on

Follow the steps below and it should solve your mac problem..

  1. Disconnect any devices connected to the computer including printers, hubs, and third-party keyboards or mice, and test the computer again by trying to turn it on.
  2. If you're using a MacBook or MacBook Pro, check the battery level. Press the small button on the battery or on the side of the computer. You should see lights indicating the battery's level of charge. If you see just one light blinking, the battery needs to be recharged. Use the fluorescent pen computer with the adapter connected to recharge the battery.
  3. Unplug the power adapter from the electrical outlet and from the MacBook, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro. Wait one minute. Plug it back into the wall first, then to the computer. Make sure the electrical outlet is working by plugging in another device (such as a lamp). When you plug the adapter back into the computer, the PowerBook G4 Battery 15" power adapter LEDs should light up green or amber.
  4. Inspect the MagSafe port on the computer for debris, such as metal stuck to the magnet in the port, which might prevent the connector from seating properly. On the adapter side, look at the DC connector for dust or other debris and check whether pins are missing, bent, or stuck down. If you find any of these to be true, see Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters for instructions on cleaning the adapter.
  5. Make sure you are using the adapter that was designed for your computer. If you aren't sure or if you need a new adapter,learn which adapter is appropriate for your computer.
  6. Press the control key, the command key, and the sony vgp-bps13a/b battery power button simultaneously and hold for three seconds to try to restart the computer.
  7. Reset the PRAM. After pressing the power button, hold down these keys simultaneously: Command-Option-P-R, until you hear the startup chime at least one additional time after the initial startup chime.
  8. Reset the SMC for the MacBook And MacBook Pro by removing the AC power, removing the sony vgp-bps13 battery and then holding down the power button for five seconds. On the MacBook Air, press (left) Shift-Control-Option along with the power button once. Note: You must use the keys on the left side of the MacBook Air keyboard.
  9. If you recently installed additional memory, make sure it is correctly installed and is compatible with your computer. Remove the new memory to see if the computer starts up properly without it.
  10. If you are still unable to start up your computer after trying each of these steps, schedule a service appointment with either an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Hello luzsavinon, the "Computer" more than likely "Turn-off,

because of the "Power Savers' [Mode] that it is in.

The 'actual way' it should work; is when you are using the Battery; the 'Power' should "Conserve Energy."

But because you are using 'both' the Battery and "Power Adapter!"

The "Power Saver Mode," is using the 'least power.' this being the "Battery!

Do the following:

  • "Log-off and "shut Down the Computer,"
  • "Unplug from the Power Outlet."
  • Next, "remove" the Battery.
  • Plug the Power Adapter, 'back' into the Power Outlet.
  • Restart the Computer.

!Warning: It is "Unsafe to use 'both' Power Adapter and Battery at the 'same' time."

  • "You can "Overcharging the Battery," causing 'Damage" to the "Battery, and or Computer!"

!Important:Use 'only' the Battery or Power Adapter 'separately.' If you are still experiencing the same problem?

  • Go to the "Start Menu."
  • Type in the Start Search [box]: Power Options.
  • When the 'window' opens!
  • 'View', in the {left} Task area which best describes: "Choose when the Computer Sleep!"

"Please let me know if you 'need' further assistance, or the 'solution' helped? "By posting a 'Comment" or 'Rating' the solution. Thank you; your 'response' is important to me!"

Hello. I can help you. As you indicate the problem could be the computer itself, the battery, the charging system, or the outlet you are using to plug into.

That said, begin by shutting the computer down and removing the battery for two minutes. That will reset some parameters and may solve your problem.

While you are waiting the two minutes, plug something else into that outlet, say a lamp just to be sure there is power there. If there is no power then go to your electrical panel and check the fuse or circuit breaker, which ever you have.

Now plug the computer in, still leaving the battery out and turn it on. if it operates that way unplug it again and reinstall the battery.

If the computer works on direct electricity but not on battery you could consider buying a new battery.

Regards, Joe.

Screen went black

That is a low battery warning icon. Check first the DC adapter/charger output. It might be not working so the battery is drained. Then the player will not turn on. The player will still turn on even the battery is dead when plugged into an outlet.

Have power cord plugged into asus eee machine and wall outlet. light has been blinking all day. when asus eee gets unplugged it shuts off.

lets try this ---

* turn of your computer
* remove the plug from your computer.
* Remove the battery from your computer
* Let it sit for 3-5 minutes
* Replace the battery
* Plug your computer back in (Make sure the wall outlet is working as well, seems simple, but have seen it before)
* Let it sit for about 3-5 minutes
* Boot your computer
* go to
Start -> Control Panel -> Power Options -> Power Meter
Note the Total Battery Power Remaining

* Let your computer sit for 15-30 Minutes and see if the Total Battery Power Remaining has gone up.

If so problem solved

if not you may be time for a new battery.

My new sony notebook is not detecting the battery.

First, try shutting down the computer, remove the battery for about 10 minutes, make sure the battery compartment is clean, put battery back in, and restart with ac plug not plugged in. If that doesn't work, I would try flashing your BIOS.

or you can remove all of the plugs from the console: AC, remote sensor, AV. This is important: You must also unplug the AC from the electrical outlet. Then wait 45 seconds, then plug the AC adapter back into the wall and your console. Power On.
