Question about HP Pavilion a450n PC Desktop

2 Answers

I have a HP a450n and it keeps launching startup repair after I install updates for win 7. Is there any way to stop the startup repair and repair it manually? I restored to before the updates and started up fine. I need the rest of the updates for this computer to work properly. I have been having a lot of problems with this mobo. New drivers would help I'm sure but there are none online.

According to HP, you don't need to download drivers from HP for this product for Win 7. Just use the Add Printer wizard function of Win 7 to go to the Microsoft Update site and get the driver from there. Follow the directions in this link:

Hpp dv6 1115ee quick luanch notwotking

This model doesn't officially have Windows 8 support. That would be why the quick launch doesn't work. Also quick launch I believe for HP is only supported for Win 8 Pro and Enterprise versions, not the consumer version.

Boot mgr is corrupt

Just want to add. Win 7 now has a GUI option.

Boot with a Win 7 disc, and choose Repair Your Computer. Then use Startup Repair option. Type bootrec /fixboot ENTER if end up at the command prompt. It does the same thing.

My dv 3 was originally running Vista-64, however because off the huge number of bugs I was encountering I decided to upgrade the OS to Windows 7 32-bit. It runs like a dream and ha been a nearly flawless...

There are some items that will need to be updated to the new OS. I am including a link to HP's website. I would look at the driver section (there is new drivers for the quick launch), and the software solutions. In fact since these will be the most updated driver and software patchs for Windows 7, I would probably download most of it. Hope this helps and fixes the glitches you seem to be having.

My dv9000 also keeps going into start up repair

Seems like windows got corrupted or a bad program installation, like an update caused this problem...there could be other problems too.Have you tried "Load setup Defaults" in the BIOS [F10 at startup] also check to see if your HardDisk and Ram are there. You need a windows custom BOOT disk that must've come with the laptop for repair and diagnosis [F11 for the recovery Mgr]. Or You can simply re-install windows. If this doesn't solve the problem then contact support..http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact_us.html
