Have you recently had a failure with the cooktop lights?

If so, we see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control circuit board, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.

Even if you've not had a recent failure with the lights, i would bet it's a leaky hood fan triac on the control circuit board.

I always recommend that you use the vent fan whenever you're cooking on the stove top to keep heat, steam, and grease out of the controls and door panels.

Microwave popped and now does not heat

Okay, first we need to separate the situations. You were boiling water on the stove and had the range hood fan running to **** up the steam. Then you put something in the microwave to heat and you heard a pop and then zip-o.

The water on the stove has nothing to do with the situation, the fan you turn on is not part of the microwave, so it has nothing to do with the microwave.

The pop you heard and then the humming suggests the magnetron failed. You said you found a blow fuse and replaced it and still nothing, right? The magnetron is the most likely culprit...I would think it is safe to say that the magnetron shorted and drew enough current to blow the fuse.

Replace the magnetron and if that doesn't work, let me know here. Good Luck!

Cooling fan hums and turns slow.

You will need to replace the cooling fan motor. Remove it and check the numbers on the fan and then do an online search for the motor. you can also contact a website called the repairclinic.

Whirlpool microwave oven mh7155xmb0 not venting

Possibly a bird built a nest (swallows) in or on the roof vent. Make sure the fan turns freely when off. Check the vent tube that goes up to the roof--if flex-tubing, it may have collapsed and pinched off the air flow (it may be too long). Make sure that a one-way valve which should be near the exit of the hood is free to move when air flow pushes on it. This valve is supposed to prevent back-flow of air into the house. Hope this helps!

Fan on over the range microwave does not have enough suction to **** the steam from stove through the microwave. Does the blower get turned a certain way for this to work? Is there a .pdf operational...

This may be caused by a weak fan, improper installation, clogged filters, blocked air ducts, or a blocked outside vent.

Assuming yours is a Whirlpool, you can download Whirlpool owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

This will help you check the mounting and setup, as well as helping you check the filters to see where the problem lies.

Please write back with your brand and model number if you yours is not Whirlpool.

Partial venting

Are you running the vent fan whenever you cook on the stove top? You should.

And you should run it on high if you're having steam problems.

Otherwise, you'll need to do something like use a small counter top fan to help circulate the air better.

Please let us know if we can help further.

Mircowave works, exhaust door opens, fan stop working

From looking at the owner's manual, it looks like the vent fan is only supposed to come on when the internal temperature of the microwave gets too high OR when you press the VENT FAN pad. Here are a couple of fan-related excerpts from the owner's manual, which can be found here: http://products.geappliances.com/ProdContent/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SKUOBJECTS&DOCUMENT=Use%20and%20Care%20Manual&SKU=JVM1840BD (or the better URL here: http://tinyurl.com/yn7r6g) Automatic Fan An automatic fan feature protects the microwave from too much heat rising from the cooktop below it. It automatically turns on if it senses too much heat. If you have turned the fan on, you may find that you cannot turn it off. The fan will automatically turn off when the internal parts are cool. It may stay on for 30 minutes or more after the cooktop and microwave controls are turned off. - Vent Fan The vent fan removes steam and other vapors from surface cooking. Press VENT FAN once for high fan speed, twice for medium fan speed, a third time for low faw speed, or a fourth time to turn the fan off. Press the VENT FAN BOOST pad for extra fan speed. - Hope this helps.
