Question about Cycling

Removed the recantuglar cover on the back, but am now looking at a round piece that says ''TOP". I expected to find something that would perhaps have a groove to use a coin to twist open. I can turn the round piece, but it doesn't open.

remove the rear cover, pull out the paper trays and look for any obstructions. Turn it off at the wall while you do this to reset it.

Drawer jammed and disc got loose.Openned top removed disc.closed back up but still had a rattle. Open back up and removed a loose round piece about 1 inch in diameter. Seems to have broken off of...

The only 1 inch round disc I can think of is the CD holder mounted on the motor spindle. It would be helpful if you could mention make and model # of the player in question.bobhifi_11.jpg

Mess. saying cover open i cant seem to close the top down. the top cover seem to be off track or broken

I have a Lexmark X6570 All In One Wi-Fi model. Just had the problem where I went to print and received an error message saying that the cover was open (when it wasn't). I noticed that the back right hand corner had slightly popped out of place for no apparent reason. Tried to pus it back into place with no luck.

Here's what happened and how to fix it:
There are two plastic hinges at the back of the 6500 series printers that allow the top cover to open for access to the ink cartridge carriage. The lower ends of the hinges are cylindrical shaped and each contains a very stiff steel spring inside. They are designed to prop the cover of the printer up and hold it open when opened. As the plastic material ages, it may weaken and the tension of the internal spring may break the round end of the hinge off. This causes the printer cover to not fully close (even though it may appear so). There is a switch in the main printer body that detects when the top cover it open (even partially), and the printer won't work in this condition.

To fix this, open the top cover and carefully disconnect the 3 wire harnesses and the ribbon cable that run from the top cover to the base of the printer. Then remove the 'paper jam' hatch cover from the back of the printer. There are two phillips screws on the back panel of the pinter (one is located behind the paper jam hatch cover). Remove these screws (they secure the plastic hinges in place). You should now be able to lift the complete top cover/ scanner table assembly off the rest of the printer. Look for a steel spring about 3 inches long...remove this along with the round base of the hinge which may have broken off and remained down inside the printer. Glue this piece back onto the end of the hinge, but leave the spring out. Now reassemble the printer in the reverse order of disassembly and you should be good to go. Note that the top cover or the printer will not stay propped open on it's own with the spring removed, but this is not really an issue.

I am not sure if new replacement hinges are readily available from Lexmark or other sources.

Video tape wont stay in ?

This indicates there is either something stuck/jammed in the cassette loading mechanism, or a fault in the same mechanism.

Unplug it from the mains and gently insert your fingers in to the loading slot - feel and look for anything obvious that shouldnt be there. If you've got kids in the house, all sorts of things will fit in the slot !
Nothing ? Next take the top cover off - normally secured with 2 or 4 screws on the sides, and 1 or 2 screws on the back. Again, carefully look for anything that shouldnt be there - if you've never looked in a VCR before, it all looks strange but soemthing like a sweet, toy, or broken off piece of a cassette is normally failrly obvious. Do not to touch the video head (biggish round thing with a small circuit board on top) as it is very easily damaged by fingerprints, etc.

Still no joy ? Well, the loading mechanism in a VCR is a very clever and complex set of interlinked motors, switches and levers, and requires a lot of knowledge and specail tools to repair it properly. Take it to a repair shop for a quote, and then decide if it's worth it.

Screeching noise

Taken from / and definitely works. Don't touch the shiny hexagon part when doing this.

If you hear the squeal, then it is the laser/scanner motor in the laser/scanner assembly. It can sometimes be fixed but you have to be careful. You have to remove the top cover and the big black box in the center is the laser/scanner assembly. Sometimes you can access the motor by just removing all the cables from the laser/scanner and then removing the screws which hold the cover on the laser/scanner assembly and remove the cover. If you can not access it that way, then you have to remove the 4 additioal screws which secure the assembly to the frame. Now once you have access, the motor is the silver colored round item in the back of the assembly mounted on a small circut board. Remove the circut board and remove it from the laser/scanner assembly. If you look real close there is a small white plastic piece which holds the round motor piece in place. Use a needle nose pliers to remove that white plastic piece, but do not lose it. Now you can remove the round piece from the motor itself. Now here is where you have to be very careful. You will want to use 1 or 2 very small drops of light machine oil (tri-flo or similar) into the motor shaft. I would just use 1 drop and it should all disappear down the shaft. If you can see the top of the oil you put in to much. Now put the shaft and round piece back on, put the while locking plastic piece back on and reassemble and it may just work just fine. If not then the complete laser/scanner needs to be replaced.

Where is the water filter located on a Maytag side by side? Model number PSD243LGRW.

Look in the refrigerator side. top left, there's a round plastic "tube" device with a lever to push in and the whole unit will pivot down from the back of the fridge.

easy to replace. Expect a couple of tablespoons of water to leak out when you remove the filter, but the cover seems to catch that just fine where you can blot it up.

Easy to do.

Cat jumped on top of printer and 2 pieces popped out

Hi there you will have to remove the top cover and you will be able to see where it goes as the roller in question is the paper eject roller. there are usually four screws under the top cover and also at the rear of the machine. The picture where the roller is resting on the top of the printer the roller is situated right under that also that white bushing holds the roller in at one end usually the left as you look at the machine from the front.

Thanks J

Mfc-7220 Back Cover Open

This one made me crazy, but I finally figured it out. Turn the machine around so that you are facing the back. Open the back cover. Pull down the second smaller roller cover inside the machine. If you look closely at the second smaller cover, on the right hand side (closer the the inside of the machine), is a very thin round piece of plastic that is only half the length of the smaller cover. There are 2 thin plastic tabs attached to either end of this round piece of plastic. Gently shift this over so that the 2 plastic tabs can now go into the space provided for them. I had to move mine over only 1/4 inch.

No power indications

Remove the six screws from the bottom and 2 screws in the back that hold on the top cover. Once you have the top cover removed you will see a small round red button on the front of the unit. Press this button in; it should not pop back out. Put cover back on and plug it in.

I dropped and it came apart

Solved it.
If you need to take it all the way apart, here's the scoop:

Get the top cover off by popping it up at the hinge side (this is what pops when you drop it)... then at the charging end, slide the top towards the hinge to slip the clips out from under something.

the folding mic tells the board it is open by a small z-shaped piece of plastic. The skinny end of this fits into a tiny hole in the bottom of the case and the fat side slides up and down in a little round space over on the side of the case. There is a rubber button with a dark piece that sits on top of the round space. The dark side of the rubber piece presses against a round circle on the circuit board and tells it whether the mic is open or closed. Once you put it all together, you have to press the board down pretty firmly to tell if it is all working.

Then put the volume buttons back in place and slide the top back on.
